Medallion Speedometer?

Fellow Riders,

My speedometer has been on the fritz for over 6 months, it works half the time but I dont really use it for the speed reading, as much as I use it for the Tach and the odometer. I am considering buying the Medallion and have read the past posts, I went to the Medallion website and it looks like they dont sell them anymore, Whats the deal?? I see u can get the Medallion on BDM performance parts, but not sold on the website yet. Do any of our website vendors sell the medallion??

if you take your speedo apart, I am pretty sure you will find one or more of the wires that are soldered on have come off. there are three wires and this has happen to me. I took speedo apart and found a wire off and re-soldered it and works great again, about a year later started acting up again and when I took apart found a different wire had come off and did same repair. there is a how to on this site on how to take you speedo apart. It already broken so you can not hurt it.

I can only speak for myself when I say I went to the Dakota Digital and have had "0" problems. Works great.:up:
Real easy install and bought it from Value Tech on this website. I highly recommend both.
It's a direct replacement plug and play, but bear in mind you'll be using your existing tach.
The people at Value Tech are top notch!!!!!

If the issue if with the annuciator ring (tach-Idiots light), Bruce is dead on for I have had the same issue a few times, and had got pretty good at soldering the wires on the annuciator ring back (they can break very easy-good solder iron, solder sucker and some time and patence is all it take for most part to repair). If speedometer only, then consider replacing with Dakota Digital or possibly ordering a Medalion form BDPP.

I took the speedometer apart and all the wires connected to the annunciator are still intact. Any other wires I need to look at?

There is a 3 pin connector inside the speedo cup that brings in power/gnd and speedo signal. Those wires connect to the speedo harness from the speedo head. All those wires need to be good as well.

Thanks BigDogBro1, I just went into the speedo cup and they are still soldered and the wires are in good shape. Guess I might have to order the medallion from BDMPP!

I have the medallion and it's much better than stock. It solved some of my issues but not all. My old speedo was vibrating to pieces and shutting off.
I seem to have a short somewhere that causes a blip in my tach still but the medallion has some nice features

Thanks Everyone for the pics and your input, I think I will be ordering a Medallion real soon!!! I was considering the Ddigital but I like the looks of the Medallion better, thanks again!

I called "Bob" at BDMPParts and they dont have any Medallion speedometers for my 06 Mastiff, also called Lannie at Bikers dream in Atlanta and they dont have one either, if anyone knows a dealer that might have one give me a PM, I want to order one , thanks guys!!

PERRO GRANDE,
The rubber boot (WHATEVER IT IS CALLED) for the odometer reset buton on mine ran away so I was calling around trying to see if there is a replacement. No luck,

I called BDM parts and he was telling me about the Medallion but I must have called right after you did and as nice as it is im not sure its in the budget either right now.

If you happen to replace yours would you keep me in mind, id be interested in buying your old one just for that one piece.

I ordered my Medallion through Lannie at Bikers Dream about 3 months ago. It took them almost a month to receive it (NOT Lannies fault!!!). I have had zero issues with it & like it WAY better than the stock one!
