Martin Brothers Pipes

BDM riders, I would just like to give a big shout out to "Matin Brothers Bikes" here in Dallas, Texas.:2thumbs: :whoop:  :flag:

After purchasing my 06 chopper, I had looked far and wide for my perfect set of pipes, I had decided on the Martin Brothers Medustas -

I have now had these pipes for over (3) three months and have loved the way they looked and sounded as soon I installed them on my dog and cranked her up. My wife said that my smile was ear to ear when I craked the throttle for the first time. ANYWAYS, I had finally purchased a pillion pad, rear pegs & clevises and a second helmet for my wife so that she could come along and fell my passion. Well from north Frisco over to Dukes (thats about 20 miles for those not around here) she said her right foot was on FIRE, and that it had started to heat up about half way there. if you take a look at the way these pipes are cut, the end kind of curves up and that happends to be right about where the peg sits above it. I didnt think to much about it when I installed them, one freind said "well when your moving, the wind will just blow the heat back and miss her foot", so thought, ya, and was to excited to think more into it.
I called Martin Brothers today and relayed my issue with someone sitting passanager and waht happened. They said that since there was nothing wrong with the pipes that he couldnt help me personaly but would send an email to the owners with my info and complaint and that they would get back to me. I figured at least a week before I would get "We'll give you 100 bucks of a new set" response. I got a call from one of the brothers within two hours, he asked me if I was happy with the pipes I had now other that the issue at hand and asked if I had seen these pipes?, they dont have those on the web site due to making them exclusivly for MC Assecories and they were the distributers of them for other dealers -

he said that they were very simular to what I had but that the heat would shoot out side ways, "Do You like them?". I said yes, can I get them from you and how much are those? He told me that they were they same price as the ones that I had for $700 bucks plus tax, but being the fact that I had not had them for two long, and was very sincer about getting some more pipes from him that he would give them to me for $300 bucks not tax, but that I would just need to give him my old ones so that he could use on testing some of his motor build ups, kind of of just a mock set in the shop.
NEW PIPES FOR $300 BUCKS!!!
Now I am not sure if you all share the same opinon as me, but I think those guys over there are a great group to do something like that for me and that it is sure a good deal!!!

I have the Medustas myself. I love them! Martin Bros. pipes sound about the best of anything out there for Big Dogs in my opinion. I have rear pegs and a pillion pad myself but haven't had any complaints from the ladies yet. Every girl who has ridden so far has been wearing boots or heavy shoes though. It would likely be a nightmare for open shoes. I am happy to hear Martin Bros. is taking care of you. The dealer cost on those pipes through Drag is around $350 to $450 (depending on volume of sales) so they are certainly helping out. Give an update on the new pipes and how your wife likes them. I would have probably gotten those had I known they existed for the very reason you don't want the Medustas.

Look great, sound good, performance bad.
I love them too but thinking of changing them to more of a performance pipe.

That is a big problem with Martin Bros pipes. A lot of them don't have heat shields. The Medustas have them and look great without having a bluing issue. I think you're right, the other ones don't look like they have heat shields in the picture.

Both good looking pipes...

Very cool of Martin Bros to step up like that...

Those new pipes would look great with a 3/4 length wrap... and the blueing would be hidden if you don't like it...

I have the Martin Bros Money Shots. I used to have the Hookers 4-Bidden pipes and they were awesome performance wise and looked cool, but fit like shit. I wanted a 2-2 set up and was hoping for a louder sound. I ended up in the Money Shots only because a shop was cleaing out shop on floor models and sold me a brand new never used set for less than 200.00 on ebay. When I first put them on they sounded like a go cart. The baffles were horrible. I took them off, but one baffle was welded on!!! I finally go them on and with no baffles my performance was crap. My bike was a cow off the line. I just put the bolt and washer set up as a baffle and got some low end torque back. I feel like i'm flying now compared to it having no baffles but nothing compared to the Hookers. I'll probably leave them on for a while and after I get the XXX I might look for a better performance pipe, but over the pipes do look cool and I haven't seen Money Shots on another bike yet.
