Does anyone know how I can get a service manual for my 06 K-9? I bought a service manual for the motor through S&S but that will not help me much for all these electricle issues I am reading about. I was looking the bike over today and found that the rubber shielding around the cable going to my starter is cracked in several places, anyone else have this problem? and should I worry about/replace it?

look at top of this page.

use shrink wrap on the cable and yes, it is fairly common.

Not sure how it has worked out with everyone buying manuals, but have never had to do this with other past bikes. I have owned nothing but Kawi Ninja's in the past, 5 to be correct. As a member of the ZX10 Forum, there was usualy a person that had begged, borrowed or bought a manual and had scanned it or it had come with a CD version and posted up a link to help out everyone else who had this model and needed it. Being that this was no cost to him to do this and would be helpful to a vast amount of riders such as on here.
Why can't something like that be done? Are we not all about helping eachother out as best as we can?
I have buddies who have Honda and Harley cruisers and have been able to download, store in computer and print the manuals needed off thier club/forum.
Just a thought, if it was possible.

MavMan, anything is possible but what you are referring to probably touches on some copyright laws and seeing as we/this site are monitored by BDM you can be the one they come and get!!! :D

By the way, this topic is covered completely one another thread with links to the very idea you are talking about (eBay).

Maybe I'm blind or something but finding a link to an owners manual (which I allready have) is all I found on WBC's website. Mav has a good point, that is how I got the manual for my last bike.

If you read the threads from Daytona Bike Week, you will see the level of interest in this forum at Big Dog corporate. Besides, Nelson needs the sales so he will have funds for his ROT party. Just kidding Nelson.

You should be able to get a manual from any BDM dealer for about $100. I purchased mine for an 07 K9 from big bike motorcycles in Jacksonville Florida for $98. That was before i heard about Nelson.

Just buy one, it looks good on the shelf anyway. Plus, I got free posters with it that look real nice on the wall of the living room *cough* garage.

Ok! Ok! Ok! :spank:

I get it. I am just one those guys who is all about a penny saved is a penny is one penny to towards other toys or parts for such. Just kind of used to things like that, like I had stated for my past Ninja's, downloaded a mapping program for the Porsche for free, more boost program for a T-Bird supercharged for only a fw buck online, etc.
Like I said, just thought I would ask. I ain't cheap, but I am not the kind of person who just thows money out because they got extra in their pocket. I have look at wealthy people, not so much just the successful, but the others, and they all have a thing in common, they all look for the deals on things and how they can keep money in their pocket if it doesn's have to be spent. Smart thinking! They cant be where their at by just spending because they got it. For example, look at all those has been music stars, making stupid shows if they can get on one just to get by, and they had millions $$$ at one time. Just a thought.

MavMan, not dogging you out but see the other links for what you are talking about.
Otherwise, we want full BDM support here as we evolve with the new motors and bikes that have EFI and the new S&S Wedge motors and their support is reassuring!
Big Dog bikes are our bread and butter and whatever support we can get we appreciate not to mention that they are great bikes even though some have some major problems. Over all I think BDM does a wonderful job of taking care of all of us. Hell, I get stuff covered under warranty and my warranty expired two years ago!!!!
