I always hated working pans that had metal in them... hopefully you have it fitted absolutely perfectly. If you don't glass both sides of it, totally encasing it, then grind the fiberglass to fit , the mesh may chafe through the felt, from vibration and flex, and get into you frame, tank, or fender.
I put several layers of fiberglass on the top and bottom then sanded it smooth. The reason I used the metal is to make the pan a little more durable since my bike is a ridged. I’m sure there is a better way but at the time this is what I come up with. Thanks

Good deal, sounds like you know what you're doing. For rigids, I've always liked a formed heavy-gauge plate metal pan, Are you doing a laced, tooled leather cover... or foundation, foam, and cover material?

Just a thought... you can consider a laced, inset tooled leather insert on a conventional seat foundation.
