Coach,
Sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my life-long friend a little over a year ago. We grew up together. Played football together, learned about girls, learned to drive, learned to fly airplanes, went to college together. Our careers took us to different parts of the country yet we always stayed in contact. I got a call from his brother a year ago and told me Mike was dying. He told me he had 3 DUI's in the last few years, lost his wife, and even got fired from his own parent's family business. I never knew he was sick!

The Doctor gave him a grim choice.... Die in pain or die in comfort? He died a few days later. When we were in high school he taught me how to play the guitar. He was a sick musician! Anyway, I play the song "Fragile" by Sting now and then and I still get choked up thinking about what a waste of a great man.

I feel like everyone else here in that I wish I could of helped him I only knew!

Godspeed to your friend

That suck Coach. I'm sorry for your loss.

A few years ago my little 11yr old step brother in law (my wife's step brother) lost his father (my MIL's divorced 2nd hubby) to substance abuse. He OD'ed on pain killer patches. His new wife was a junky and so was he now. We still till this day don't know if it was a stupid accident or on purpose. But at the end of the day, its stupid, and he's now 14yrs old without his father. What a way to grow up. I have known him since he was 4 and the things he's had to weather thru in his short life, yet he still remains to be a good kid. Truth be told, before all the drugs his father was a good guy, that helped talk my now MIL into letting me date my now wife. I owe this guy all of that. Its sad.

So we must cherrish who and what we have. Make sure you tell your family you love em and that your friends know they are special to you.

God bless!
