LOOSE STARTER

today, right after telling Raywood how fast the dog was running, I jumped on it and push the start button. no starting just spinning.:bang::bang::bang:
I live in a little hill and decide to started it via clutch and 3rd gear. It do started but at 30 feet from starting it, it started spitting oil from under the bike. parked it and see like this:

Talking to Raywood again, he told me to look for Neils thread about a broken shaft.

it was spinning but no engaging and a freakin loud noise coming out from the primary cover. so i took off the cover and found this:

as you can see it is not centered, going down and smashing against the plate. I think about Neils but then tried to move the shaft and it was tight.... so I figured the starter was loose and bingo, the shit is loose!!!

tomorrow Ill find out where and which screws felt down.

While your in there grab your clutch basket (the whole unit) and try wiggling it and see if it's good and tight.

You may have broke a starter. When mine broke in half it still spun but mine didn't leak any oil like yours did. If it's broken you can see it under the battery box pretty clearly. Heres a couple pics of mine:

sorry for no posting before.
I just replaced the missing starter bolt and tightened the other one which was like 1/4 inch loose, checked the primary for ruptures, checked the starter, checked the transmission oil, the engine oil.... everything was ok. and started it!!! starter do its job really good, no oil leaking, no nothing.

Raywood and I also questioned where did that oil qty came from.... (when I opened the primary, it was like 1/2 quart of oil still there)

so my conclusion is, as the starter went loose and separated from the primary, oil came from there.
having no mechanical knowledge, I cant tell if the primary generates so much pressure inside its case for the oil to be spitted with so much force.

thanks.

ps. when I was back at home, Ive notticed one bolt of the rear pulley was bended and almost out !!! :bang::bang::bang:

I VE BOUGHT 1 GALLON OF RED LOCTITE AND WILL USE IT IN EACH AND EVERY SINGLE DAMNED BOLT OF THE BIKE!!!!

Glad your back up and running. You will need to go over all those bolts on that thing before going on a road trip. Let me know if you need all the torque figures and I'll send them to you.
