Looking for a measurement off of a Pit Bull W? 280 tire....

I'm hoping someone will volunteer to help out with this. I need a measurement for a sissy bar. I need to know what the center to center distance is for the two sissy bar mounting holes in the fender struts. It's a 2008 Pit Bull with a 280 tire. Can anybody get that for me? I'd really appreciate it. I would like to build this sissy bar for a gentleman that is in Afghanistan with the US Army Corps of Engineers, he will be coming home in a month and has never seen his bike. He wants to add a little chrome to it before he gets home.

Thanks in advance,

Eric Barnett

My sissy bar is attached so I am not sure about exact center-2-center measurement. It seems about 13.5'' if I am not mistaken.

Could you pull it and measure it? It would be easiest to measure the eyes on the sissy bar than trying to measure over the fender.

Eric is a good guy and if he's working for a member of the military its double good.

Pulling the sissy bar could work but there might be one problem. The sissy bar will spring outward a bit when it isn't in the hole if I remember correctly. It might not but that is one thing that would have to be taken into consideration. A little masking tape on it might prevent that from happening.

Can't you just measure across the outer ends of the sissy bar with it installed then all you need to do is subtract the bar diameter to calculate the center distance?
Another method would be to tie a string across the bar with it installed and mark the center of the bar on the string and then measure between the marks on the string.
