Well the itch finally hit me today, I was out for a ride and a old buddy of mine that I haven't seen in years was at the HD shop on his 1198s and offered me a test ride since he knew I have always kinda wanted one. HOLY CRAP!!! the handling on this thing is amazing and throttle response out of this world! It made me decide that I will not upgrade the dog any, she runs strong enough now so why mess with a good thing if I can pick one of these up that have roughly 170hp to the rear tire stock:eek:

Now I know there are a couple of guys on here that have a ducati so I thought I might throw this out here to see if anyone has seen one that is a year or so old. I know new they range from 17 to 21k.

Oh and the dog got her bandit clutch kit ordered today :2thumbs:, so sick of the stock setup either slipping or creeping no matter how you adjust it, plates are shot:down:

I did a lot of shopping before I got my 1098s Tricolore. Ebay is the best source. There are some good deals out there if you are willing to travel or have the bike shipped. Also, check out Coastal Ducati Club's website. They have a "for sale" section.
The Duc dealer in North Atlanta (can't remember the name) had a nice selection of slightly used bikes. Give them a call.

Thanks Skid, I join a forum and have done some internet searching. I really want to stay away from ebay if possible but if the price is right I might see if I can buy it without going through ebay. Well on to my search, thanks for the tips!

Give me some info and I'll check around. Does it have to be a 1198 or 1198s (as opposed to a 1098)? What color do you want?

I really havent done a whole lot of research, but the only real difference between the S and non S is the carbon fiber, adj struts, and few other minor things in the motor, like springs or valves?? and your read outs on display and downloading. I know on their website it says they create the same hp/tq one is just lighter than the other but not by much.

I am looking for a deal pretty much, I dont want something that has been beat up/wrecked if I can help it. I guess you might say I am trying to find that bike that someone bought rode it a couple of times and then left it in the garage to say he/she has a bike (I am sure they are out there just got to find it). Color preferred would be the black and grey or the midnight black/bronze for the 1198s.

I of course am looking for additional input while I am shopping around so if you have any tips please feel free to send them my way.

I am going to the Ducati dealer in New Orleans the weekend just to have a look around and see what they have. I have been checking out ebay a little and there are a couple on there that seem to be decent.

Thanks

Congrats on the Bandit. Mine's bullet proof:2thumbs:
Thanks, I was tired of my stock one slipping

The difference between an "s" and non "s" depends on the year. You must be looking for an older bike...
I test rode a 2009 1198s, which comes with traction control. It was cool, but my skill level did not warrant it.
Plus, the Tricolore looks cool.

You guys are going to have to post a pic of one of these things for those of us "not in the know"!! All I know about Ducati is that they win a lot of races that I watch. :D

Here ya go Ray, I really like the black one. I was able to get down to the shop in NO today and look around but nothing sparked my interest for their prices!

Skid I have looked on Ebay and only found one and it ended already am I missing something?? I also went through and looked around on a few forums. I really am in no big hurry to buy but will not pass up a great deal if I find one either. Heck I am fixing to start back working 7-12s so my riding will be cut short for any bike.

Beautiful bikes and Duc are one of those fine Italian pieces of machinery art. Beauty and performance.

Probably the best in that class though the M/V Augusta are awful nice too, but very very costly. Would love to ride a F4 RR with the 190 HP powering the Italian fine art.

Ducs are at least somewhat reasonable.
