I haven't posted in quite a while, but I'm always reading the forums on here. Long story short. My wife and I like to ride together, she sold her sportster last year in hopes of moving up to my 09 Fatboy. I told her she could have it-- once I found my first dog.

I saw this one on cycle trader 2006 Big Dog Motorcycles K9, Edgar NE - 104412504 - Cycletrader.com They are asking 17,500

its a 2006 K-9 Arlen Ness?

Just wondering whats the Arlen Ness means to a BigDog. What different- a special edition?

And is there many know issues- or what should I be worried about if anything? ehc? Ness?

Sorry for all the questions- but I'm interested

IMHO, this seems way over priced and I've never heard of any formal cooperation between Ness and BDM like Ness and Victory. It's an early 06; TP boxes (the valves may be fine but some have had problems); no mirrors; no sissy bar; average mileage; decent paint but nothing awesome. Check for all recalls and service bulletins, especially the voltage regulator.

Most 06's I've seen lately are in the 14 - 15 range.

Good luck !

Arlen Ness means nothing to Big Dog, no affiliation. Maybe Ness might have painted that scoot or performed some mods or something but nothing special about it, that I know of. Also take a look in the swap meet section, many have scoots up for sale. Good luck with your hunt. The price is a bit too high in todays market. I mean a member just sold a 2008 Ridgeback for 16K on the site as an example. Keep looking you'll find a good deal. Do some wheeling and dealing and if you got cash, that's even better... :2thumbs:

Looks to me like Arlen Ness took it on trade then sold it after paint, that's all. Too much $$$!!!
New heads but still has TP boxes!

Way too much in today's market. There are no mods/customization that would make any Big Dog worth more than just a normal Big Dog. No matter how ONE OF A KIND the model may be....in today's market it is about what the buyer will spend. I bought an 08 Mastiff last year with 1300 miles on her for less than what that dude is asking for his. Shop around my friend. It is a buyers market.

Yep,

I am very lucky in that every year I go to Alamo California to visit my brother I get to ride Arlen Ness bikes for a day. My little brother's best friend's father is Arlen's best friend. Works for me. I don't have to ship a bike out to California to ride every year. Those custom High Liners are fantastic with 124 S&S rubber mounted engines and a 300 back tire. The 63mm front forks are massive. Basically, it is a great riding bike with dual swing arm shocks on the back and they are all loaded up with chrome. I don't remember a single piece of aluminum.

Huw

PS If you are ever out there, take a short test ride. Be careful because you might end up buying one. They can make you a custom bike any time and Arlen will sign it.

Its got Arlen Ness Exhaust and that appears to be about it that I can tell. Hell the Air Cleaner isn't even a Ness.

Way to overpriced :job:
