Look what I found while tearing bike down

While tearing the dog down for head work, look what I found. I had noticed a drop or two of oil on the floor and found oil on the bottom of my starter. So I figured the jack shaft seal was gone again. Pulled the starter while I am waiting for head work to be done.

Found oil on the bottom of starter.

Cleaned it up and found this crack.

Not just a little crack.

But a big hawking crack.

So now I need a new starter as well.

I've broken one before. With your 05 make sure you get the new updated seal for the primary. That is what is causing the leaks.

Ray, can you be more specific? Do you mean the jack shaft seal or the o-ring seal that seals the start to the primary housing?

Starter parts everywhere around here too...
My case was cracked in half in a few places..

How are they breaking? Just bad design or are you guys physically breaking them?
