Im wanting to replace my speedo/tach with separate units. I no longer use my EHC. Lights and points are rewired. Where is the RPM sensor on the engine? Any additional advice is welcome also. Thank you. (2005 Ridgeback, 117ci)

If its anything like a car and I believe it is, the lead should come off the coil. Years ago when I tuned up cars I would hook the dwell/tach meter to the hot on the coil and a ground, yes I said dwell, does anyone remember points in the distributor cap:oldlaugh:

:hi: If I remember correctly, Chevy was set 28 to 32 degrees btc. we usually just went with 30 degrees btc. really miss that little "trap door" on the side of the cap, and that allen wrench for adjusting the points.:yesnod::yesnod::old2:

If your asking where the crank sensor is, it's located next to the oil filter on the front of the engine. If your facing the engine from the front it's to the right of the oil filter and is black in color. The crank sensor sends a signal to the ignition module which in turn sends the signal to your RPM indicator.

That was the timing, dwell is different:whoop::oldsmile:
Aw I think ya might be wrong ! Timing on chevy's is somewhere around 8 to 12 degrees btc. points were somewhere in the .018 range,( 28 to 32 degrees ) now ya got me wondering. Gonna have to look it up somewhere. Yer makin me work here man!
Been a while. I still have my old dwell / tach, and have no use for it other than to take up shelf space
