Lighting - turn signal cover

1997 Proglide

Anyone know of a source for replacement lenses? I have one that is pretty brittle and cracked. The bulb needs to be changed and the lens may not survive.

Alternately, is there a source for replacement turn signal sets that will fit (see attached pictures)? I don't know if LED fixtures will work without changes to the electrical system and the old style turn signals that were around for 100 years seem to be very rare now.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I did see those insanely priced, very beat up red lenses on ebay. They look to be the correct fitment but they are in worse shape than what's on there now. I did look at what was OEM for the 1997 HD wide glide and it's a round, bullet type lens. The fixture might fit... I'd have to look closer. A set from Dennis Kirk is around $80. $160 for all 4. So that could be an option. But of course what would be ideal would be to find out who made that lens and get a direct, period correct replacement.

Replacement lenses arrived today. They fit perfectly. There isn't any gasket currently in there and the lenses appear to be a water-tight fit without them. I did order a set of gaskets but I don't think I am going to need them.

The bulb is a 9712V4cp which is no longer made. An 1156 looks like it may fit although the glass globe might be too big for the tiny space in the fixture. I've not been able to find a direct replacement for that bulb but they were used in many vehicles for eons so there must be something out there that will fit. The OEM bulb (which does not use the Drag assembly that's in my BDM) is 68163-84 and looks like it would fit.

How many Bikers does it take to change a lightbulb? Should be a two minute, one sip of beer job right? HA!

The good news is that the Aero-Lite #89 LED bulb worked perfectly. Brighter than the incandescent that was in there but that's always good. The replacement lens has a bevel that causes a tight fit inside the fixture. There was no gasket there when I took out the old lens. Bone dry inside after 28 years. Still... the gaskets did not have holes in them and the gasket material is so flimsy that making tiny holes was an un-holy trial. That and the button on the LED was just a tad too long so getting the bulb twisted into the bayonet socket was a royal pain. Everything inside is thin aluminum so you can't get a good grip on anything and nothing wants to stay in place. I was worried I would damage the power lead to the socket and that would have been a MAJOR problem to repair.

But... I'm old and dumb but if nothing else, persistent. Turned out to be a 30 minute exercise in aggravation. I'm going to guess that I'll be long in the ground before I rack up 5000 hours of blinks and have to replace this thing again. Especially since I am very old school and use hand signals 99% of the time.

Of course there are three other bulbs in there :(

I appreciate all the advice and comments!
