Hey Gang,
As most of you know I've been trying to document the life changing events that have occured in my life during the last couple of years. I left off in the second installment telling you
all about Pisssed aka Tim helping me on my trip from Viginia to
South Carolina. If you have been following along my bike broke down in North Carolina and Pisssed came to my rescue and picked me up and loaned me a car to use until my bike was repaired. So about a week later the H-D dealership called me and told me my bike was ready to be picked up. Luckly my friends were heading back to Virginia for the following weekend and they volunteered to pick me up after dropping of the loaner car and take me to the dealership to pickup my bike. The dealership was right off the highway and it wouldn't be out of the way for them, I ask them to leave my bike outside and I had already paid them with a credit card. We arrived at the dealership but the bike wasn't left outside as we had arranged, call the contact number and they said they could meet me in about a 1/2 hour so we decide to grab a bite of lunch so we could be on our way once I had my bike. The employee who had arranged this called me and told me he had forgot his key and had to turn around and go home to retrive it, another 1/2 hour each way.
I started getting that sinking feeling that you get when you know this isn't going to be your day. Anyway after about 2 hours I have my bike and thank my friends for helping me out and they continue on there way. My bike is fixed and seems to be running better since the charging systems is now working and the battery is staying charged all of the time now. So, I started looking for a home here in the Myrtle Beach area and I contacted a great realtor and after meeting and giving her what I was looking for and that I was under the gun in the time frame department. In just one day she must have showed me 20 houses in my price range, but none of them felt right. She was about to take me back to my bike when she said that she had one other house to show me and it was on the way. If you remember in the part II segment, I told to remember the name of where my ancestors live (Deerfield, VA), so this was like a omen when she turned into Deerfield Plantation to show me this last house. It was perfect in everyway, to the location (only 4 miles from work), the layout and even the large oversize 2 car garage. The only downside was the asking price, she said not to worry that she knew the sellers and that she would cut her commission and waive all of her normal fees to help me close the deal. Called my girlfriend and told her that I found us a home and that I would email her the layout and the photos so if she had any questions we could go back to the house and answer them right them. So I made a offer and the sellers agreed and since the house was empty I could get it quickly and begin to move the rest of my belongings from VA. So a month goes by and I'm ready to close on the house, my girlfriend has no luck finding a job but she is eager to start working on the house, painting & cleaning before we move our furniture and belongings in. The weather is really nice here and my Big Dog is at a friends house and I decide to move it down here and I hitch a ride back to Virginia with some friends who are visiting to pickup my other bike. I check the weather and its good for the next couple of days so I get my Big Dog and go over everything before the next riding day (400 miles on a Ridgeback). We head out the next morning and all is well, bike is running strong and making good time. Get to the first fuel stop (100 miles) and fill-up, go to start the bike and it won't crank over, so thinking the battery is not fully charged I drift start it and off I go. So I get almost to the same area where my Harley died on me and my Big Dog backfires and shuts off and I drift to the shoulder of the road. I'm thinking this can't be happening again, but oh yes it can, luckly my girlfriend is following behind me and she has some tools in the trunk. So I begin to check everything that I can think of, I even brought a jump box, but it won't fire. So I call my buddy Pisssed aka Tim and he brings his truck & trailer to meet me and we load it up and take it to his house in North Carolina. We decide its getting late and he would take a look at it the next morning and try to figure out what is wrong, we say our good-byes and head down the road to Myrtle Beach so I can be at work the next morning. Tim calls me to tell me that he tried starting the bike that morning after charging the battery and it started right up, he took his ohm meter to check the charging system and got nothing. Right them I remembered that the last service recall was on the voltage regulator and they had installed a inline fuse kit to protect the wiring system. Tim, pulled the fuse and found that it was blown and really corroded, he cleaned it up and got a new fuse installed and it was charging again like it should. He checked everything else and said it was good to go. So the next weekend we traveled back to Tim's house in NC to pickup my bike and return to SC, again I find myself trying to find the right words to thank Tim for again bailing me out of a jamb. Of course there aren't any words to do that, so I make him promise me that whenever his in Myrtle Beach he has his own bedroom to stay in at my house and of course I'm only a phone call away if he needs anything. I know this story sounds hard to believe, but its all true and to this day I think about how Tim helped me twice, even though he didn't have to (he wanted to help but that's Tim). Since all of this has happen, Tim has gotten married and I don't see or hear from him as much as I'd like to, but we still keep in touch by cell phone or email. So in closing I would like to tell you all that I've gotten my life back in order and plan on getting married to a wonderful woman on May 1st, 2010 and I am hoping that my good friend Tim and his wife will be able to attend. In closing this forum offers a wealth of knowledge, but most of all it offers great friendships one of which I will never forget.....

Yet another example of how Kool this place is, I really enjoy meeting members on here at Rallys as it makes you feel less alone when making road-trips
