left lean

Anyone thought about mebbe placing some weights on the right side frame to balance up their dog a bit?My 2004 dog leans like a Richard Petty racecar...always wants to turn left.Hell I know they do it on race cars and since im looking for comfort and not speed I was tossing around the idea of placings weights on the bottom of the right side frame to try to balance it up a bit.Any of you tech types got any ideas on this?I know they moved the drive to the right side on 2005 and later models probly for this reason but I'm tired of fighting the left lean on my 2004 model.

My 03 pulled hard to the left and is the reason I upgraded to the RSD 05. I would suggest verifying your wheel alignment is spot on and making sure everything is balanced.
In the end to clear that fat tire of yours they have to offset the motor and tranny to the left for the belt to clear. Don't know about placing ballast on the right side, doesn't sound feasible to me.

Good luck,
Ray

Even if it were, it's prolly dangerous. Adds weight to the bike and the geometry of the bike isn't designed for the ballast while it IS designed with engine/tranny offset in mind... my .02

To be honest, I've gotten used to the setup on my 03 and doing anything like that now would just 'ruin my game...':D :D

I know what you mean! But I've really got to where I just don't even notice it anymore. Did research conversion kits to a RSD, and you CAN do it, but it would be expensive. Hate to say it but if it's a huge deal you may be much better off in the long run just trading up.

(that being said I understand the $$$ impact ... which is one of the reasons I haven't done it)

Take weight off the left side. Going to a belt drive would help. Lose the heavy chain, fluid, and most of the primary cover. That has to save atleast 15 pounds. Is that enough? Probably not enough to make it neutral.

Having an 04' Pitbull I don't really notice to much. I know for a fact that a few of my buddies sat on the bike and they've told me that it feels awkward just sitting on it. Maybe it's me but I really don't notice it.

I personally like the left side drive and I have a 3 inch open primary, Its really nice when you need any parts and everything fits. If you put any stock in numbers the 250 tire left side drive models have what is to be considered a 2% lean factor and the 05 and up have a 0% lean factor. I've gotten used to it and to be honest when I drove a right side drive it felt funny to me.

Same here Oscar ..... but did watch my buddy who just bought an 07 Mastiff sit on it and his eyes got big when he was balancing it.

LSD gives us so many options though, gotta love it.

Do a small 2" semi enclosed belt drive on it. I bet that would equal it out pretty darn close. The 2" primary would be more than enough strength for the horsepower seens how the drive belt isn't any larger.

yeah, keep riding. i noticed a little lean when i got my 03' but today i dont notice it at all. seems like it would have to be a considerable amount of weight to add anyhow.:moped:

I rode an 03 Chopper for a little over a year. It was annoying at first but I got used to it. It always felt different in the sweepers depending on which way you were turning though. I can take my hands off the bars and take a nap on my new one. I also like all the leg clearance on the left side. The trade off is less leg room on the right side and pipes that scrape easy. Big dog could have had Vance and Hines hug the frame closer.
