thanks jake I thought of that... but couldnt find a thicker 1.. I did place a thin washer in between the 2 serfaces though.. its a nylon washer,, it still vents fine & works great.. I even thought of putting a roll pin in there for that. my paint saver was one that was leaking & the dealer put alot of green loctite to hold the new paint saver in.. I didnt want to chance removing it to install the gasket..I did install blue loctite on the bolt that holds everything together,, thanks for the advice I'll keep a eye on it..it been holding fine for over 2K miles..:2thumbs:As for the spacing on the caps, it seems to be that the Landmark Paintsaver ring is supposed to have a thin seal under it, between it and the paint.
BDM, from what I have found, puts them in some bikes and not in others. With the paintsaver ring screwed down tight in a tank without the Landmark gasket in it, the cap will be very, very close to the tank, but should not touch it.
I suggest, if you want more space between the cap and the paint, pick up a bit thicker o-ring to put on the cap. It will need to be the same diameter, just thicker.
That will space the cap out. If you space the cap out in between the splines like you guys are, some day the cap will be tight and the splines may twist and strip out. They need as much surface area as I have given them.
Don't want to see anyone strip out a $200 gas cap! O-Rings are cheap!
What????? All I understood was wiping your ass with a Honda add, that made sense to me.Well, Ray I had to do a lot of studyin to acomplish the task..I seen this custom bike one time in a magazine that somebody had left in one of dem portable outhouses at a bike rally I really liked it.....so much in fact that I saved the page and used some honda add from another page to wipe with cause it was really uneke and never really understood how dey did it but the other night I was playin widh photshop tring to make pitchers to have both views...Some how another whiles I wuz doin it the dam pitcher flipped on his own..........beats all I had ever seen it was juz like the one in da magazine at the outhouse carb and pipes on the left like an ole flathead..I kept hittin the undo and it wooden go back to beeins on the right side and I reely wanted my pitcher on my posts
So I just left it alone and figured I would just be the onlyest K9 person around like it width left hand drive and all.:up::up:
