Kickstands Revisited

There are some threads regarding the Arlen Ness "telescopic"...

My stock bracket is peeling chrome [again]. In my mind, it's because the stop is a wedge, instead of a definite stop. I'm not seeing any way to create a rubber bumper on '07 K9.

I'm also looking to decrease the lean angle.

Referring to J&P '09 catalog, I'm looking at their ptno 5300400 adjustable, by Milwaukee Twins, which looks to be similar to the 530-457 Ness kickstand. The caveat on the J&P web page is that the Milwaukee Twin kickstand is Made in USA.

Has anybody used one of these, and do you have a pic of the thing mounted on a bike?

OK, since no one is talking about the Milwaukee Twins kickstand...

Have any of you with the Ness kickstand had any problems since you installed them?

Good point, and all I've to look at are pictures in the catalog.

I've been rooting around on the web a bit, haven't been able to find a point of contact. Pondering if this is a subsidiary of some other company, maybe import stuff...

Ain't funny! 8 F. and light snow (or was that volcano ash) when I went to bed the other night...
{grumpf}
But I almost have a "path" through the ice on my driveway.

OK, a few on the forum have used the Arlen Ness kickstand, with no complaints apparently. There's some good threads on the subject (with pics) if you dig a bit.

The Milwaukee Twins ptno looks VERY similar, but is about $50 less.

You said that you're in the market - search for the thread named "Kickstand" by Gasman. Makes a pretty good case for going with the Ness stands.

Just checked: Hellriser (couldn't find it), Ness wants $200, Phat $179 (but they won't show the correct pictire for our bikes), Dennis Kirk $190.

Yes, I'm gonna do it, will place the order before I crash tonight... I'm going with J&P, ptno 530-457 $189.

Got a narrow path through the ice down my driveway today, can't fart around any more!

Thanks Slow Vince are you going ahead and getting it? If you do good luck with it

Think about all the time your bike reLIES on the kickstand. Do you want to lean $30k over on a "made in china" POS?
'evenin Gas, been a while...

Yeah, been thinking about it a lot, which is why I'm not going with the stock kickstand again. To their credit, they did offer [again], but I'm taking you at your word that the Ness stands are a quality rock solid piece of gear.

But it hasn't been delivered yet.
Bloody Hell, Eh?

I only vouch for the RadII. I'm not sure about the Rad and its moving parts. That along seems to scare me a bit.

What do you expect living in NW Canada, eh?

Post Office just today gave me custody of my new kickstand.

Wow, the Ness "telescopic" is one hurky piece of gear! And in it's shortest position, it's about 1/2 inch longer than stock - just the length I'm looking for on the '07 Dog (a little less lean angle).

Gonna have to get to this one Real Soon Now!
