All of a sudden my 2008 K9 won't turn over. All I get is one click. I can feel the compression releases work when I put my finger on them as I push the start button. The battery is good. Kept on a trickle charger. Put the battery charger on it and it showed a full charge. All the lights are bright. I noticed the click is from the starter. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Larry

Since you are sure it's your starter clicking pull the cover off the solenoid and inspect your contacts and return spring. If they are burnt you will have a bad connection to the ground side and the motor will not crank. Clean or better yet replace them depending on how bad they are. https://www.bigdogpartskingpin.com/...ter-solenoid-rebuild-kit-all-2005-2011-models

First check for 12vdc on the green wire at the starter. Second clean the ground wire at the frame or starter.
My son has a multimeter. Will have him check the green wire in the morning.
The battery is 11 months old. Got it from Batteries +
We will pull off the cover off the solenoid and inspect.
Most likely will need the rebuild kit from the bigdogpartsking.
I forgot to mention that the bike has a push button start on the solenoid. When I pushed the button it didn't do anything.

Keep in mind volts and amps are 2 different animals. The battery should read 12.8 vdc. with no load on it. To know for sure a load test back at Batteries + could/should be taken to eliminate the possibility of a problem battery. Since you have the battery fully charged they may load test it right away and maybe it's still under warranty if it's bad or not up to par.
Pretty sure it's not shorted considering the battery charger is showing full charge but it could still lack cranking amps.

I edited/updated an earlier post. I added that the push button start on the solenoid dildn't do anything. Doe's that indicate anything new.
I will get the battery load tested Monday.

When you use a push button (slam button) you are effectively creating a direct connection across the Positive and Ground side of the starter. The starting system is totally taken out of the picture so you are left with options : Bad battery, bad positive connection on the starter, bad solenoid contacts, bad negative (ground) on the starter at the mounting bolt.
Check all connectors for being dirty or loose. A battery can only be as good as it's worst connection Pos or Neg. Obvious but I'll say it anyway, take a pic of your battery connections before you remove them. You wouldn't be the first to put them back on incorrectly. It is also possible the starter itself went south but not likely.
