Finally ordered my dog a new TAZ carb!! I'm looking for an improvement over the E and G carb I had on the bike.

Any advice prior to installing would be appreciated.

My 117 is stock - beside th D&M Spike (which I hate, but I'm stuck with it ($$) - looks cool, but no performance advantage)

and V&H Big RAdius.....

What next?

I hate to tell you this, but that spike wont flow enough air to feed a stock G carb , let alone a Bored out Taz. After you sort out the aircleaner, you need to remove the restrictor plates. Then get yourself a good cam and you should be pretty happy for a while

Get the s&s dual runner,600 cam, some head work,0 deck, roller rockers . Then open that taz and have some fun. But not long because your gonna need a better clutch.. Good luck and enjoy your taz got 2 & really like them..

I just bolted mine on and it ran great. I will dyno it after I add a cam.

If your new TAZ is chrome but your manifold is aluminum, you might want to remove the manifold and polish w/ high speed buffer. Same with the throttle cable clip/bracket. The new chrome taz will be so shiny and those two pieces will be dull. Might as well knock them out while you have the carb off.

I had a D&M spike. I cut it off at the elbow, just behind spike, and slid on a K&N filter. Looks cool. That D&M cost me 5 HP at the dyno. We cut it off, slid on K&N and 5 more HP on the dyno.

I agree with Knucklehead, I don't think The D&M will work that well with the TAZ, I had trouble with mine, switched to a dual runner works great. you might want to research it a bit more

I had the same setup with the Spike and a Mini Taz. Bike ran rough until I sold the Spike to another member and replaced with S&S Dual Runner. Now bike runs GREAT with no dead spot.

I went with a Arlen NEss 90 degree air intake. The price was right, looks good and should provide the bike with enouigh air flow as compared to the D&M Spike.

Just installed the Ness 90 degree intake....bigger than my D&M and gets in the way a bit, but not bad - this thing is shiny and big! I can hear this intake just sucking the air up!! Just waiting for my Triple X TAZ!!! I hope my D&M woes are long gone....Great looking set up, but not for me! Sold it on the forum - less than half what I paid!! URGH!

The guys at Triple X carbs are amazing! Fast shipping and quality product and service. I want to thank Gas Man for his "how to install the Triple X " step by step instructions. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person, but his instructions made it easy. I had to remove my l/s tank to remove the coil to access the carb bolts....managed to strip out the center bolt, although I suspect it was already stripped by the difficulty of removal.

The Triple X bolted right on, I replaced the fuel line with a braided one with aircraft type fittings. I followed his instructions to the letter......then came the moment of truth...started right up....made no adjustments.....and went for a ride.

Okay, I purchased my 05 Pitbull off the showroom floor...it had the Super E carb and stock pipes at the time. I added Ness pipes and the D&M spike. Ran ok, but it was lacking. Went to the G carb and a set of Yaffe pipes....disastrous ride.....backfired, no mid range, continuously adjusting carb. I then went to the V&H big radius pipes...better, but still lacked that umph....got rid of the spike...figured 6 years was 6 years too long and replaced it with the stock as a temp....ran better...but still lacking....rebuilt the carb....no change....saved up my pennies and took the Triple X plunge along with a Ness 90degree air intake....just got back from a short ride and smiling ear to ear.......what a difference...immediate throttle response, power all the way through the gears....no backfire, no stutter - things I was dealing with for 6 years.....Gone!!!!

If you are experiencing these same things....go with the Triple X - I didn't even have to adjust the carb.....I may pick up the idle, but good right out of the box!
