thexaulted; Were those "guys" who you were riding with in Daytona on Harleys? If they were, it may just be a case of "buyers`remorse" for not being astride a Big Dog themselves. Jealousy is a strange entity and it makes even good people do strange things. IMHO.

could be your problem. The flange nuts shouldn't be and don't need to be that tight. You may have crushed your gaskets and that would likely cause a leak
My 2008 Service Manual says "60 to 80 inch-lbs". Thats right inch-lbs!

Tom...yes they were on Harley's lol! Well two of them were and one was on a 72 Triumph, but he wasn't saying anything, and some other guy on a Harley who overheard us talking also had to join in!

thexaulted; I had a hunch that the "problem" may be the "Green Eyed

Devil". Now be sure to fix what I feel is an intake leak and go out

and show them what they are really missing out on! It happens too

often that owners of Harleys think that the "motor company" can do no

wrong. Harley Is a fine manufacturer but their bikes, even the Thunder

Mountain series don`t match up to a Big Dog - no way, no how. IMHO!

Alright guys I finally got around to taking the bowl off and checking these jets. Here's what I have the main jet is 070 and the intermediate is 0295. I am assuming that these are the original jets but I am not sure. Like I said earlier I do have Joker pipes, they are very short with no baffles.

Do you think that these jets are to lean and could be causing the occasional hiccup and or the lean condition or what ever I have (popping with flames on decel) lol!

Right off hand I say yes. But this still doesn't mean you might not have a intake leak (i think you said you checked for this) Might try a .31 and a .74 and see how things go.

I agree with V, sounds like you need to up jet. A quick way to check and see if you have an intake leak would be to light a punk (you know the smelly stick you use to light fire works) put it near you intake where it mounts to the heads while the scoots running and see if the smoke gets drawn into the manifold. If this happens you know you have an intake leak...:2thumbs:
