Jackshaft bolt size?!? More than one?

Has anyone out there heard of different sized jackshaft bolts on late model V-twins? Aren't they all 1/4-20? That's what a local "authorized bdm shop" tried to tell me today. I took the bike in to have a tranny seal put in. I was quoted 2 hours plus parts. They charged me 4-1/2. Took the bike home and heard a horrible grinding sound coming from the primary. Then I had problems with the starter engaging. Took the bike back and he pulled the inspection cover. Chain was WAY LOOSE! Then he puts the inspection cover on inside-out! Then the starter won't engage at all. Pull the primary cover off and there's NO pinion gear on the end of the jackshaft!! I find it in the outer primary cavity it goes into. I check to see if he bent the tab on the washer and see it's a different washer, smaller than the inside diameter of the pinion gear. Then he can't reassemble it without the pinion gear being engaged with the ring gear. I leave and they tell me I have the wrong bolt in my starter. The same bolt I've installed 3 times on the starter and never had any issue with. I got charged 5-1/2 hrs for a 3-1/2 hour job. Get on the bike and no clutch. He forgot to adjust it. Well, it wasn't the kind of Valentine's Day sex I was expecting, BUTT, I'm feeling like I just got #$%'d by a local bike shop today. No flowers either!!!

Actually I wrote a check. A third party, out of state, post dated rubber check! I'm going to stop payment and re-issue a check for 3-1/2 hrs plus parts and that's only if they put in the Amsoil that I PROVIDED!. The dude also took apart my throttle cable and lubed it "because it was sticking really bad". He didn't check to see that I had my throttle lock tightened down. Duh!
