Freezing my ass off last night riding home & I hit the high beam & no light or high beam indicator. I had to fumble around in the dark with num fingers @ 65mph to find & hit the low beam & light comes back on thank goodness. I pulled the seat today & the high beam fault light on the EHC is on. All other buttons on the left control work.

I have the wire-plus sitting on the shelf, but was wondering if there was anything else I could check first.

Sounds to me all you need to do is change your bulb. The vibration these dogs put off tend to makethe bulbs go out. Have changed mine 3 times.

Would the high beam indicator still come on though? I thought that the ehc would just keep the low beam on & not leave me in the dark. But, I am going to check the bulb.

The EHC's in 2004 were not coded to autoswitch back to the low-beam if there was a fault on the high-beam.

If you're EHC is still working and the wire+ is ready, it's always a good time to change. I ebayed my 2004 EHC for $410.00.....

just say'n...

I'd check the bulb, and if that EHC is still a good one, sell it for god money while it still has a little bit of a reputation left. :)

You should be able to pay back at least half of that wire-plus module with the sale of the good EHC instead of throwing it in the trash after it pukes.

Regardless of what you do with the old EHC, what the hell are you doing with a new Wire Plus on the shelf? One electrical hiccup and your stranded on the side of the road who knows where. You definitely want to figure out if your EHC is good or not, but then you need to get that WP where it belongs......on the dog.

I got it for a winter project or to have on hand when needed (won't do much good on the side of the road - will it?)

That point is well taken, maybe I should do that. Is the DVD that you now include a copy of the how to thread or is it different?

Its not the bulb

Well, fellers I took the bulb & put a jumper wire on it & its ok. So, looks like there is going to be another wire plus dog on road (soon I hope).
