Hello to all again,
As I stated in my intro I'm new to the site. Have two bikes but have always wanted a streched ride if you get my drift. Short of a custom, a BD seems the way to go. Thought about building one myself but the cost factor is not in my favor. Was brought up on dirt bikes then rode a few RR earlier in life. Got out of riding in my 30's. In my 50's now and ride regularly. I currently have an 16' road glide and an 18' scout bobber. Divided house but love em both. Have tricked both to my satisfaction now looking for a BD. Not particularly looking to go new at this point as tinkering brings me almost the satisfaction of riding. Not locked in but thinking the K9 might be where to start. I'm not an engine builder but understand cams and have no probs with carbs. Electrical is no problem. I would like comments on years, 107 vs 117. FI vs carb. Anything anyone may want to add. I have been doing my research on BD for a month or so but really could use some input. I would just like a good starting point. Any and all comments will be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome aboard Frank. I have 2 of these awesome machines in my garage and there is nothing else like riding a Big Dog! My Harley would be mad if it heard me say that but there is no comparison. As far as which bike to pick, this is a very personal decision, I love my K9 but everyone else in the group loves their dog just as much whether Chopper, Mastiff, Ridgeback etc.. The K9 is great bike and only comes with a 117 or 124 in the newer versions. Some say the 107 is the best motor S&S ever built but only comes in bikes pre-05 I believe. No matter which bike you choose there will be some kinks to work out but once you get it sorted you will be fine. This is just my opinion but try to find one that has the original wiring and EHC so you know what you have. Nothing worse than trying to sort out someone else's mistakes. EFI is nice and I have it on my Bulldog but I prefer the simplicity of the carb on the K9. There is lots of knowledge and experience on the site and the best people you will ever meet to help you through anything that might come up. Hope that helps...glad you are here, enjoy the ride.
