Intermittent loss of spark, 2004 Chopper

2004 Chopper, owner broke down today and called me. An experienced mechanic checked for spark on site and had none. All other functions, headlights, starter, etc were normal. When I got there an hour later, bike started and ran normally. I checked the crank sensor and tried heating it and can't repeat the problem, bike starts and runs fine. EHC has the new daughterboard. I'm thinking bad crank sensor or coil, but not sure what to do since I can't repeat the problem. Any suggestions?

could very well be the cam sensor,04 dosent have crank sensor but same issues, seems theres been a few bad sensors lately, there is some test you can do with a meter

Cam sensor, sorry Mob. Got 12.2k across the coil, is there another coil test I can do? Short of taking this thing out and flogging it until it dies, what else can I check?

Moe...Hate to say it ,but recurrence is the first step in solving the failure.

Control board and key switch are ok, bike turns over, all functions were working except spark. I rode the bike yesterday and couldn't get it to die. Owner has opted to change cam sensor and coil for peace of mind. Anyone know the part number for a stock coil? They are Crane coils, right?

Yes, they are Crane 3 ohm single fire coils. But I haven't heard of them going bad on here. Might check the plug wires too.

Opps, just checked your first post. Think the 04s were still dual fire not single!

Thanks, I got it Ray, somehow I knew 2 wires was dual fire, I just forgot to get the part number last night when I checked the coil. Plug wires looked ok.
