Installing outer primary

Decided to pull my outer primary to adjust chain and make sure all is well. Cleaned everything up and gasket looks good. Before I reinstall it, I know BD indicates it is not necessary, but is any type of sealant recommend? If yes, both the gasket channel and inner-primary surface, around bolt holes only or what. What is my best option for a needed sealer?

I have put it back on both dry and with silicone . With silicone is a pain in the ass but I couldn't get the gasket to stay in the channel . I be leave BigDog recomended with silicone.

I had mine off twice and just cleaned the groove and the rubber gasket well and reassembled with no sticky shit. No leaks both times. :2thumbs:

Thanks all. I think I will clean it well and slap it back together. I could not find anything in the BD service manual to use anything--just the inspection cover designed with O-rings. Thanks again.

A small amount of grease will help hold the gasket in place.
