I'm not sure my bank account can handle another custom built anything. :D I'm one of those guys that just can't cut a corner anywhwere.
Totally understand but you could get an Ultima engine and transmission for probably $3.5K brand new, a frame for $1.5K and you're away. You can always pick the rest of it up from almost anywhere. Just add parts as and when you got the cash. Go on Vegas - I wanna see the build thread :D

I do love that bulldog but 40k for a new bike just doesn't make sense in this economy. (I hate using that term by the way) I can pick up used bikes for waaaaaay less than what they sold for a few short years ago. I don't see much of a chance of finding a bulldog used. If I was a rich man then I agree.
What about a FBI bike?

Man Lee, I need another project like a hole in the head. This aluminum big block build is getting costly. Reliability would be my first priority on a tour bike. I'll just stick with what I have. It's a beautiful customish...LOL

I had a FatBoy Heritage from 1988-2003. When I sold it I thought my riding days were over.....by the way....purchased for $9500, sold for $12,000. It had some upgrades and a few extra ponies in the motor.

When the fat tire customs hit the market it was all over. I had never felt so at home on the new bike (03 BD Chopper). Since then I have, on rare occasions, test rode and looked at the full blown Geezer Classic......First off: full dresser is a bitch to move/muscle around.....Secondly: they feel gutless, lack the power now that I am used to the BD.

Would I consider a HD Dresser ? ..... Of course. Will I make the switch .... maybe .... but for now even at 68yrs .... until momma takes my keys away I'll stick with what I got.
Your my new hero ..at least for today:up:

Three bikes are the way to go ...ready for any type of ride ... But now I'm into Vetts ? Whats a mother to do??? I love the Chopper can't see selling it yet !! Never say never. Now's a really bad time to sell and a really good time to buy.

That I agree with. However, anytime your making a lateral move, meaning selling a similar product to buy a similar product it's not as big a deal. I don't see any reasonable appreciation in our near future. Hope I'm wrong.

The FBI bikes are sweet altough costly. If I were looking for a bagger I'd look at one a year or two old to cut cost and keep the dog.

thanks mickeetwo!!! they get along in the same garage ,,,thats good. the funny thing is that there is such a dog called the razorback ridgeback! my fbi bike is a razorback

Vegas, I'm with you bro I sold one of the bikes (2002 Sporty) but still have the 03 Dyna, 05 Softail Standard and the 05 Chopper DT. I actually use the softail to commute to the station (130 mile round trip) and it's been rock solid. I have had and continue to have issues with the Dog (latest is ignition module), but everytime I consider getting rid of it, I stand there and just look at it and realize even though it's a pain, I just love that thing. Thank God I do most of the work myself now. I also am considering a street glide but the prices in this town are not the greatest, so I'll just keep logging miles on the softail. I do ride the chopper to work (when it's feeling well enough that is!!), but I don't have the same range and have to stop for fuel. It's your chioce, but when I ride the chopper, it makes me remember why I bought it in the first place. In fact, I took the softail into the shop to have the injection checked out because it felt sluggish and the dealer (red rock) said everything was perfect.... I was just used to the power of the 117!!!!!

There is no doubt a full out FBI is expensive. But with the Jims motor... I bet they will outperform the BDM bagger. Plus I think they even look a bit nicer.

Of coarse you could always do the fat tire & drop seat kit to a standard SG. Then maybe just punch out the 96 to a 110 with a nice cam. Still get in way under budget that way.
