I'm man enough to admit I'm no Raywood. I love my bike and rode her today but I'm ready to get the fuck out of dodge. Ya, I'm thinking about selling my bike and picking up a Harley. I'd love to have two but I just don't ride enough and my garage is full already. I've thought about just getting a deal on a road king or street glide and seeing how I feel about the whole deal before I sell my dog. I guess I'm looking for some advice from my boys. I know a bunch of you have two and alot have swapped. I'm ready to start making some major road trips. Any advice is appreciated.

I have not rode my Harley once since I picked up my new Mastiff. The Mastiff does more for me than the HD does on long trips.
Your bike will sell quickly if priced correctly.
Rent an HD for a few days before buying to make sure.
I hear goldwings are way nicer.
One of my drivers has 2 harleys and a big victory. Rides the victory daily.

Well I have to say there definitly two diferent types of beast and deffinitly two diferent kinds of rides the radio and the bags do come in handy on the street glide but the performance and the attention I get on The dog is unreal I had some issues in the beginning with my dog In The beginning but thanks to this forum and the dealer that sold me my dog is no longer in buisness stood by me. It's a tough call though did americade and an 800 mile run on my street glide at the end of august last summer loved every minute of it but after that I've was on my pitbull till the end of the season wich surprised me cuase I rode it more than I did my Harley. I got it cuase I don't see myself doing alot of touring on a rigid. But the performance and straitening out my reliability issues have me giving it a second thought. Good luck on you decition.

I actually find my Big Dog more comfortable than the harley - purely because of the feet position although you could put forwards on a Harley and then I guess they would be pretty much the same. Reliability wise I would have to opt for the Harley although since some of the work I have done to the dog it has not failed me in a long time touch wood. The Harley though is a much much smoother bike to ride around town but I guess thats not much of an issue for what you're talking about. Again, I am doing something now (thinner head gaskets and maybe adding some material to the ports) that should help with that.
Up to you entirely Vegas - I'm a big fan of both bikes. Yes the dog probably gets more attention but I couldn't give two fucks about that. Means less than nothing in my opinion.

One of the worst things I did was sell my Harley. I say that because when I bought my chopper the Harley sat for 8 months so it was difficult to justify keeping it. But eventually that new bike smell wore off and I could have used the Harley many times. Having 1 bike sucks because you want to do all the work yourself but you also want to ride so there is always a compromise. Even though we have the winter months here where I am there is always something that goes on with the bike. I know 2 bikes is not the answer you want to hear but your situation may be different. You see I like working on bikes so thats why its frustrating for me having 1 bike. But you have that nice ass Camaro to keep you busy so a nice Harley thats dependable might be the ticket for you, something to just jump on and go and no matter where you are there is a dealership everywhere.
Agree make room!!!!Your bike is beautiful so it should sell fast although I would seriously consider keeping it especially living you are area. You'll miss come spring.
Anyone on two wheels is all right by me. I take a lot of long road trips and I always take my Road Glide. The Mastiff gets a lot more attention and the power is unmatched but the Harley is a lot more comfortable when riding 500-600 miles a day. I appreciate the saddle bags, tour pack, radio and windshield when I'm touring. I'm in my middle 40's and my back just can't handle the beating any more. In So. California we have very strange highways. There are groves in the road which cause the bike to bounce more then the smooth roades. 10 years ago it would have been different.

I couldn't agree more. I have the FX, I will sell it, but I will have a FLHX with in the next year or so.....Different days, diff. bikes....

I had a 06 road king & really liked it,but wanted the 6 speed & alittle more cubes.. it was a good time to move up to the 09 . got a street glide & love it.. the s/e street glide would be great but to much $$$$$$$$ for me,, maybe if I only had 1 bike that would be the one... tough choice... good luck

I feel where your coming from, I too had a garage full and had to make a economic choice. With me having a shop and working on allot of different bikes it let me ride lots of different bikes. I loved my Ridgeback but my girlfriend didn't because it beat her up to bad and it just wasn't practically on long trips. I had a full dresser but didn't like the top heavy feel and I had already owned 2 RoadKings, so I had narrowed it down to either a StreetGlide or a RoadGlide. I decided on the RoadGlide because of the extra room behind the fairing and the fairing is mounted on the forks and not the handlebars. I like the bike and I'm just trying to get the bike to fit me better, it doesn't compare to a BD so you have to get that out of your mind. They are just what the say they are "Touring Bikes" in the heavy cruiser market....

I sold my Street gide to buy my K-9 and the ride of the BD is 10 times better then that harley was, Im a big guy and just felt squished on the street glide evan with the highway pegs and my ass would get sore about an hr into rideing that thing i can ride the K-9 until i need to stop for gas and no sore ass I guess this bike just fits me better for my Size

I owned a 1981 low rider and when I bought it, I felt like a king but after 25 year that feeling wore off. my K9 brought that feeling back, plus the looks and comments I get make me feel great. I do not see any Harley rider getting the same. the big rear tires, the paint job, the ride on mine is great, and if I want a radio I use the I-pod. I do like Harley's and have thought about getting another one but am not sure if I would ride it much.

I might be wrong(and probly am) but your and Veggies reasoning for getting the harleys are different as well.
Appreciate all the insight. I've always thought I needed two bikes. It's just hard to justify tieing up the money and space. There are some deals to be had this time of year. It's a lousy time to sell so I may just pick something up after doing some research and test rides and make my decision come spring. One of my best buddies is a salesman at Harely so I can take some test rides. I've rented a road king, street glide, wide glide, and road glide in the past 4 years. They don't give you that raw feeling or the look at me. I don't care about the latter to much anymore. I get stalked in the Camaro and it drives me nuts. I've also never ridden one that has the screaming eagle kit and pipes. I did ride my buddies Road King with just pipes and a programmer and it was respectable even with only 88 inches. I've never just jumped on my bike and rode to Colorado or South Dakota. I've never felt comfortable enough on the bike. My 03 Chopper was the most comfortable big dog I've ever owned. Maybe I just need a bigger garage.
I'll get it figured out in the next couple months.
