I'm thinking the ehc is fried

What are your thoughts on this. Buddy of mine has a 04 rb, if I plug the negative wire coming out of the ehc it no lights. Leave it off lights but won't start. I'm thinking the ehc is fried but would love some feedback.

Run a remote ground and see what happens. I'm assuming you are using the wire harness ground for this, yes?

You have provided a serious lack of information for feedback on your friends Big Dog. There needs to be a lot more specific information and maybe pictures with the ignition switch off and on to help you. Also, there are tests that can be preformed on the EHC. It may have to be removed and sent off for testing to validate your question.
