I have a 2002 Mastiff. It has a Thunderheart dual fire ignition module. According to WSW's website these aren't made any more. What are you guys using as a replacement or upgrade? Results?

Coil's ohm resistance means the lower the number the hotter the spark. That's the upside. The downside is a low ohm race coil is used for a short time. To cool the coil down for everyday street use, run a higher resistance coil that last longer. Heat kills electrical parts.

Good to know about the coil. I hadn't heard that before.
The stock ignition module is mounted between the tanks, away from the heat.
Single fire ignition systems like Ultima, S&S, etc. are mounted under the cam cover.
I have read that the heat from the exhaust can affect them causing failure.

On my last 03, I got with ThunderHeart and got a single fire ignition and coil. I believe it was for an Indian. Looked just like the duel fire I took out.

Asked Curtis @ Wild Steed Worx what he recommends.
His reply;
My recommendation is to go with the Dyna2000.
It requires adapting it to the BD wiring but I feel it is a superior solution to the cam chest modules.
Since you already have dual fire now it will not require any other changes.
You can use the single fire version just be aware that if you go with the single you will need to change your coil and upgrade the coil harness from the module to the coil due to the additional signal wire needed.
I am currently adapting a dual fire Dyna 2000 to an 03 Chopper that we are upgrading to an 04 BD electrical system.
I would have gone on to the 05 system but the dual connectors will not fit under the seat.
I just cut the Harley connector off and crimped on JSTs so it would plug directly into the harness.

Yes, we were carrying them but California, in their infinitely liberal overly tree hugging way, has sent letters to all the manufacturers threatening to sue them if they sell any of their aftermarket products to California dealers without first having the products certified by California's Air Resources Board. At first the manufacturers were not concerned but then C.A.R.B. won a case against one of the manufacturers, I think it was Vance & Hines, which led to a huge fine for them. This scared the crap out of all the other vendors so now I can't get any type of after market ignition system, that is not approved by C.A.R.B., shipped to me.
I can still get a couple of things under the radar but none of the stuff that the 04 and older folks are in need of.
