Ignition Module Dead

Energy One

Alright, the shop says my ignition module is dead and 2-3 weeks for a new one to come in. I have read that a lot of people use thunderheart to replace. What do you guys think? Should I replace with stock BDM, switch to thunderheart, or someone else. My 06 K9 is mostly stock, other than short pipes with no baffles. Also, what are the costs associated with the swap? Anything need to be done other than plug and play on the "other" ignitions? Thanks for the help, guys.

Thunderheart makes the factory module for big dog. They make an adjustable one that is better for almost same price.
You can call Thunderheart directly and they will sell you an adjustable ignition module that already has the Big Dog connector on it, for plug and play.
do a search on here, there is a thread here somewhere that names the person to speak with at Thunderheart.

I just got off the phone. They have the stock replacement (EA5019) available for $186. The adjustable one (POT5012) is $329 with the BD connector, but out of stock until next week. The universal one (EA5012) I have been reading about will work fine, but have to cut/splice. Looks like EA5012 for me...
Thanks for the help

Glad we (this site) could help.
I think that $329 price includes the coil, there was something in that other thread about calling them and getting a price without the coil. We already have the single fire coil (or whatever it is that is needed).

But if you were happy with the way it ran before, the stock replacement is fine.
I only have the factory non-adjustable one, and I am happy with it.

I had the same problem with my stock thunderheart with only 9000 miles it and decided to go to adjustable single fire setup by ultima.. No problems so far with 5000 miles on it ... Like the adjustability also. Surprisingly this ultima setup was cheaper than fixing my TH setup .

Hey Rex, just a thought here , If you still sporting those reflectors and stickers from Sturgis that might be some of ur problem. The Bike might be rebelling from wearing those fine factory ornaments. Ha Ha.
Just Joking with ya.

You got some good help here with Barry and Curtis, they'll get you going.

HA! Somehow they all fell off when I got home from Sturgis :)
I guess it isnt the same way with classic musclecars, where the original stickers make the car worth more. I should have checked with WSW before I ordrered, but it was 4 pm on a friday and I wanted it shipped friday...
