I agree with Bill, I have one bike with Wire Plus and the other one with PDM and in the back of my mind I always wonder when are they going to go out. I Don't know much about the R.I.P. but you don't know if they will be here in the future. That's why the next time will it will be re-wire that way you know you can fix it.
Ya, I put in the WP and it lasted 200 miles. Sent it back and they "Fixed" it. Put it back in and after only 1,200 miles today the start button wouldn't work.
I had put a spike button on the starter so got it started that way. Leaving the bar it would turn over with the spike but no fire. Had to hot wire it AGAIN to get home. Turn signals were on (all of them flashing) and I couldn't get them off.
I have Chubby bars and brand new HD controls as well as new breakers and a relay sitting in the garage. Guess it's time to do it right.
I can see the interest in the RIP kit because it's just a plug and play deal but you will still have to worry about the controls and RIP support down the line. If you really check into the RIP system you will hear about poor quality control and problems from more than a few people. Thank Curtis for you guys who bought it for his support.
When I first joined this forum the WP was the cat's ass so I got it. Now it's the RIP. I guess next year it will be something else everyone will jump on but an 80 year old old school wiring plan makes better sense to me. Costs a little more but you can do it in a day or two and you will know every wire in the bike so fixing it is simple if you ever need too. I wired my 1996 custom old school and ran it for 18 years and over 200k without 1 wiring problem.
(ok Curtis, your turn)
