My starter has arrived. It should be on the porch when i get home tonight. I have never done any work on my bike before but, my bro is a mechanic and hopefully with his and you guys help it will be a success. I havent heard back from STICK so I guess Im on my own. I hope this ends up saving me money and not costing me money!

Anything I should know or remember!?

The obvious? (not obvious to me)

Tips? Diagram? Pictures?

Just look at it this way. If he doesn't, and messes up the EHC, then he'll be gaining the added experience of installing the WP unit! ....:D....:2thumbs:

You do not have to pull the primary cover on your bike for this! Only 2 bolts hold the starter in place. It will seem like there is something else holding it but its just the o-ring and being seated in there for a couple of years. Just keep on pullin and twistin. and if you got 2 in to 2 pipes it will bes easier if you remove the rear pipe. also might gain some room removing the bat side cover so when the starter does come out you don't break the cover off with it. Its plastic.

That sucks, well B proud of ya :2thumbs: this will be a good thing, & like V said only 2 bolts twist & pull it will come out, try not to f**k up the "O ring" so you can reuse, Batt out, side covers off, pipes off your there :2thumbs:

dont overtighten the cable connections to the starter. if so then it can spin the contacts. there is a TQ amount in the manual i think.

Well,to be honest,I think it's a little bit of both. They did have a couple of bikes in the shop, three maybe four,I also think it's a two man operation, but three weeks does suck, the next BD shop is about an hour and half away.:bang:

Like Marv said don't over tighten the cable connector on the starter solieniod. Use a new lock washer under the nut. Not that hard to do just get things around the starter out of the way where you can. The bottom bolt can be a pain but with the right universal and extension combination you can get it. A little grease on the starter o-ring when you go back with the new starter will help. Good luck and let us know if you have any problems.
