I wish I had more money.
Well for some time I have been having this issue. I'll be riding along and for no apparent reason a blinker of my flashers will just come on. I didn't have a clue. Well last Sunday night on the way home form Brick House Bar and Grill with Aspen, I am a couple miles from the house and the bike starts firing on one cylinder. I get to a light at the intersection and look down to see a lightning bolt jumping from my coil to the rear jug. I'm thinking holy shit right? I get it through the intersection to a gas station and give it a look see. The spark plug wire is busted at the coil and arcing to the jug. So I get the tool bag out and am (are?) going to bend the end of the left over part of wire around so it will stay on the plug long enough to get me to the house. A guy pulls up on a Harley asking if I needed any help and I tell him what I am doing. He's like" I just now finished changing my plugs and wires and have the old set in my bags. Dude gives me one of the wires to get me home. Kick ass dude! I couldn't thank him enough at the time. When the ark was jumping my flasher were doing all kinds of weird shit and it struck me right them wow, I may have finally licked this thing. I put one the new old wire and bike fires right up and I am on my way. Get a mile down the road and the damn lights start flashing again. Instant let down. I really thought I was on to something there. Well this morning I ride the scoot to work and still the same old shit. Go a couple miles and a light may come on. It was just so sporadic ya know. The parts guy at the shop asked me to pick him some stuff up off of a job sight if I ran across what he needed. Cool. Today was that day. I call my parts guy says hey Ryan I have what you need. But I need some plug wires. I have one set left he says. I Get there take the wires and get my tired ass back to the house for some beers. Bike cools off and I go to change the wires and the one that hadn't been changed yet was busted inside the boot and all corroded. I think I found it. My problem has been going on for months. I checked them at the plug but never at the coil. DUMB ASS!!
I haven't ridin it yet but will bet dollars to dough nuts that is it cause of the way they started flashing when the first one came apart on me.
Super long story short. Check your plug wires at both ends.:loony:
