I Need To Vent

Mechanics......I tore my bike apart over the winter(paint, chrome, bunch of other random shit) and finished it in July. There was 2 things I didn't want to piss with, installing chrome hand controls and making my new rear wheel fit properly, everything else I did myself because if you something done right you obviously do it yourself. Well, I have extreme belt rub now (I'm assuming belt needs tightened), my brake lights are permanently on (right hand control brake switch is loose), and I just went out and my clutch cable loosened at the hand control......all stuff from the mechanic. I NEVER had a problem with this bike and I spent 650 bucks. All this stuff I can fix, but I shouldn't have to f*ck with this stuff if it was done right. I apologize for the rant, but this is why I try to do everything myself and don't trust mechanics. Never again will I have a mechanic touch my bike.

Canden,
I was looking through your post on the rebuild last night and all I can say is its awesome. That being said i can understand your frustration! I used to be that way where I didnt want to fuck with certain things so I took them to what I believed was a professional. Wrong choice on my part, like you said if you want it done right!

Its nice to have a place where like minded people can vent and share experience as well as frustration, we are all fortunate to have this venue! So vent away buddy, and i'm sure you will be on the road soon with your problems behind you.

May want to look at your belt, tranny, engine alignment to take care of the belt rub. Also did you change tires??

I did change tires. I didn't remove the motor or tranny with all the work I did over the winter and didn't have a belt issue before.

I don't blame you. I haven't had anyone touch my vehicles since 1986 except warranty work on my 99 dodge. And after a speed sensor replacement on my truck they went for a test drive and ran into the back of a van on the interstate! That was a new way to screw up to me. So no more for me.

I replace my tire last year and it has been rubbing since then. I really was not happy with it at first. I notice it when I roll it backwards out of the garage. I have put about 1,000 miles and no issues.I still don't care for the rubbing really. The new tire is the problem.

May want to check the threads on here, I think some tires are wider like the metzlers. some were sanding the sides down to stop the rub.. not sure if this your fix.

Don't feel bad, I just spent 6 months rebuilding mine, and spend each night tightening and adjusting. It's just the way it is. Look what happened when God made woman, we can't expect perfection no matter how carfull we are.

your right Paul. On my buddies chopper, he is running a Metzler. I just took a grinder and trimed a bit of the bead protector off so it would clear his belt.
