s&s was able to verify that i had the 124...but they didnt sell it to big dog...so im a little confused on the story of the motor...but happy to have the 124. thanks for everyones help

good news as long as the motor wasnt abused. either the previous owner rebuilt the motor with a 124 crank or got a complete 124 motor. good luck with it hope the best. glad you got that settled.

well they said the sold a motor to someone other than big dog. maybe they can tell me more i dont knw.

i would only run premium anyway, but now i know why the previous owner said it ran better with premium...and he only used premium somtimes :down:

it also explains why i wasnt getting the 40mpg i thought i would.

its not as crazy fast as i thought it might be. dont get me wrong, im not complaining...but the old roadstar was pretty fast to with all i have done to it. and since i blew the motor in that...i dont ride the big dog as hard as i might like to. the more i get on it, the more valve noise i hear...so i just take it easy in hopes to get more than 35k miles out of this before a rebuild lol

i dont know why they couldnt help me the first time. the first time i called a dealer...this time i just emailed the company. they could tell me everything by the numbers off the crank

well i can only compare it to the 98ci of my roadstar and yes it does rock. like the paint on yours. i was going to do the same thing on my silver edition roadstar....now i might do it on the dog...except the stripes will have to be the stock maroon color so i dont have to mess with painting the frame.

Humpty, If ya got more questions you might want to talk to my buddy, Mike. He has a 124 in his '04 Chopper and has a lot of trouble free miles on that motor. I think it has even had some speed work done on it.

thanks. im a big fan of them myself....but i see why everyone has the vance and hines....the lines on them just go with them perfect. i had vance and hines on my roadstar and the sound was amazing. i havnt heard many big dogs, but i kinda wish mine were louder. im almost thinking my roadstar is louder than my bd.
