How to Dyno a Trike - Power Commander

We just triked out dad's '05 Ultra Classic with a Lehman Trike Kit. It was done by the good folks out at M&J in Martinsburg WV.
His bike is identical to the '05 pictured below:

He's added a few pounds to the machine with the driveshaft and the extra wheel. The trike kit also extended the length of his exhaust by at lease a foot.

Because of all of this the bike bogs down a bit sooner and the check engine light floats on occasionally. Unfortunately he can't just rejet and move on. He's got Fuel Injection.

I was considering going the power commander route in time for father's day for him.

1. Does anybody have experience with the Power Commander ?

2. Do you think there may be a profile we could download to improve his performance ?

3. If we can't find a profile that would work for him is it actually possible to stick it on a Dyno (Consider that there are two rear wheels instead of 1)?

Car dyno with an operator profiecent in motorcycle power comander...

But I would think if not that a generic map for the PC for that bike and a longer pipe.

Power Commanders make great stuff. I used them on my sports bike for years. I would put one in and try a generic map that is close to the set up that your father has. If not then you can get to a car dyno and map in there with a laptop.

Looks like we may have found a power commander installer 10 miles away who just so happens to have access to a car dyno in the shop next door.

Way to go and cool of ya to do that for your dads trike. Power Commander has some good maps and will make a special map for you if you contact them. The fuel requirements with the weight of the trike under a load will be somewhat different I would think. I am interested how everything goes myself. Pull a Gasman and take a bunch of pics of the action as it takes place. This is something you do not see often for sure.

Alright pulled the trigger on parts for dad's just in time for Father's day trike upgrade with Will at Devil Dawg in Chantilly Va.

Basically going with a Stage 1 upgrade for his Harley.

1.Arlen Ness Big Sucker (aka K&N high flow)
2. Some fresh Rinehart slip-ons - Can't see anything but the tips coming out from under the trunk of the Trike.
3. Powercommander III USB (not the new PCIII EX which is for those super green California tree hugger style emissions).

Trike will get Dyno'd and dialed in at the speed shop next door.

We talked about CAM work, heads etc $$$... Maybe next father's day.

All went well with the father's day Trike upgrade.

Dad's got a bigger Air Cleaner, Sweet sounding Rinehart pipes, and the power commander to override/trick the stock ECM into allowing for a more aggressive fuel map.

Devil Dawg tweaked the power commander maps but weren't able to dyno it. The car dyno next door was down. I might get it Dyno'd and tweaked later.

Runs great. Can definitely feel the extra HP and Torque.

Can't knock the smile off dad's face.

Actually I've seen a few Big Dog Trikes. Haven't seen a k-9 yet though.

Looks pretty neat.

Somebody had one on eBay a few weeks ago.
