Tom is old as dirt he'll tell ya anything and he doesn't have anything close to that mileage on his. But on the other hand Bill uses Teflon spray and his will last forever, so what's ya gots to say now :oldconfused: and besides if you need one then cut some outta that bald tire on the back. You do realize if you run over some bird shit,:oldeek: the back tire is gonna get all loose on ya, so be careful:cheers::oldhardlaugh:

I can't remember very well anymore ha ha, but I had almost 100,000 miles on my Chopper and only remember replacing the pulley at about 60,000 miles.
Proper maintainance and alignment goes a long ways

Had 70,000 on the original belt. Went to kick it out sideways in second gear on a patch of sand, on the pavement, and snapped the belt.
Replaced it with a S&S Kevlar belt and no problems yet. 78,000 now.

believe it was his son that took over the business. think the old man's name was Phil.
You're correct, The man's name is Phil Ross, and there was a thread about his passing. Can't recall the exact date he passed away, but I'm thinking it was in December of 2015. If I remember the thread was something like "the man behind the modern belt drive, Phil Ross is gone" Now I'm gonna have to look it up!

Reading this and remembering the Metzeler rubbing the belt made me wonder has anyone tried narrower HD belt and pulley? That would clear some room for the tire.

The poll didn't have a response for 0 miles. Mine got replaced Saturday, after it breaking last sunday 45 minutes from home. Previous belt was 1yr. and 1 month old.

Damn, did ya catch a rock or something?
Yea what the hell? And the one before that was only a year old? Have you checked your pulley's for abnormal wear? How tight are you running it? I think something like a 3/8" up and down play is what you should have, something is obviously not right.
