How is BDM handling recalls?

This might be a very dumb question so take it easy on me. I've been out of the loop for a while and it appears that BDM is no more? But I stumbled across a 2010 recall for 2004 bikes and electrical issues and was wondering if there is a way to get this done. If not does anyone know what the corrective action was for this recall? perhaps I can take care of this myself.

Most likely,theres nothing we can do for the recalls on our bikes now since Big-Dog is now out of business,and the recall parts are most likely not being made anymore......

But you might me able to call around to some shops that work on Big-Dogs and see if they might have some of the Recall parts in stock, very slim chance of that though......You will also have to give them the VIN# to see if your bike qualify"s for that specific recall...... I never found out what they did for this recall but it did impact my ridged. I took zip ties and wrapped them around the harness and EHC. It worked, had it for a few months than replaced with the wp for peace of mind.

My 2004 Big Dog Chopper was affected by this. I recieved a Recall Letter...
Prior to that I went through 2 bad EHC's; one under warranty and the second slowly died over 3 months and I replaced it at my cost with the Wire Plus Kit that I installed.:argue:

Headlight Connecter:
in the bucket burned a little; so they replaced that under warranty early on before the Recall. I got some things covered under warranty but when Big Dog was announced Bankrupt -- I knew I was on my own, as we all are on this Forum...

EHC Connector:
First day on a "burn-out" the seat knocked the EHC connector off!
Figured out the double zip-loc-tie thing with the mechanic. I reversed the metal seat bracket and made a new one so it acts like a hook and the seat now comes off moving it an inch forward instead of pulling back. Still do an occasional "burn-out" and don't loose the seat or stall (electricaly) anymore -- but did bust the clutch basket rivets... (after Big Dog Bankruptcy) so stopped the burn-outs...

IMHO the corrective action on your 2004 is to trash the EHC -- IT WILL GO BAD!, that is a certainty!

Check your headlight connector if it is burned at all -- Replace

Of course all at your own expense...:roll:
I'm in the same boat too...:roll:
but we love our bikes! --don't we?!:lol:

PS:I remember Recalls/warranty issues on the front fork dust cover & o-rings; front brake reservoir & gasket; handlebar mounting bushings; air filter element; kickstand bolt & spring; got all that replaced free; and I am probably forgetting a few...
