First I am glad you are alright....
What gear were you in?
I was passing a car last week on mine and it locked up or was jumping in and out of gear in 3rd is why I asked. It is at Baker now being investigated. It just got it back from BDM where they did the repairs over the winter for the same issue. It lasted about 300 miles before it failed again...Got off the interstate and took the backroads on the way back and blammm.......
Keep a smile on your face bro....:D
Neil
Neil, I was probably in 4th gear when it happened, I cant be sure. I was having trouble before with it jumping out of 3rd into 2nd, they adjusted the shifter pawl. I recently had it jumping out of 4th to 3rd and another shifter pawl adjustment. Well 500 miles later and bang. I have also been in contact with Baker since my BDM warranty ran out in Feb. and they want the dealer to send them the transmission, they seem like good people. I just dont know what else got messed up when it broke and jammed everything up from 60+ MPH.

How did you get the bike home? Were you able to ride it? If not, then what prevented you from riding it (beyond the obvious load in your shorts)?

If the problem was with your transmission you should have been able to pull the clutch in and get that rear wheel spinning again (assuming your release mechanism wasn't damaged). Milky transmission oil is normal, but flat out grey is an indicator of a serious component wear and a potential safety hazard.

I wouldn't worry too much about "collateral damage" to other components of your bike, these bikes are built to withstand forces well beyond those generated by skidding tires. Nevertheless, you should have it checked out.

No you couldnt move the bike with or without the clutch being pulled in. Something broke and locked the output shaft and all. Had to remove the belt to get it on the trailer. Baker said I could have damaged the clutch basket etc. as well. The skidding tire wasnt the concern it was the impact of all the gears etc. coming to a hault from 60 + mph. it was a jault. I just want to get it fixed. I am getting tired of every couple of months something else going wrong and back to the dealer; another 2 hour ride .:spank: :spank: :spank: :bang: :bang:   :argue: :argue:

I also need to give a big shout out to SGT.FURY for leaving work early to go and get the truck and trailer and travel 2.5 hours to pick me up. He truly went out of his way and this was on the night that he and his wife were supposed to celebrate her birthday @ dinner. Thanks again SARGE.

I had my rear tire go flat two weeks ago. It went flat quick as hell and started bucking left to right. It's not a fun feeling. Now you know what it feels like and hopefully you'll never have to ride it out again but, knowing you can might get you through another. SGT Fury your a hell of a good friend, I'm sure you caught hell for that little task.
