The weather in Huntsville today is perfect, 80 degrees. Since I got my bike back together this week and hadn't ridden in a few weeks I decided to go for a relaxing ride on some back roads. That was going well and I was within 2 miles of my parents house, luckily only going about 35 mph or so, when a baby deer ran into the side of me. Scared the crap out of me because he ran right into the side of me and I thought it was a dog until I got stopped and looked back in the road and he was laying there flopping around. I never saw him until he hit me. He was the size of a medium sized dog, very young deer. He was so small and the grass was tall on the side of the road, he just kinda shot out of the grass. He hit right in my foot and footpeg then kinda flopped into the back of the bike. My foot came flying off the peg but luckily no lost balance or anything. Luckily it didn't hurt the bike at all and even better after the little guy got his senses back he got up and ran off too. Definately a close one, but God was with me :2thumbs:

Maybe your Guardian Bell at work? Or a Guardian Angel, for sure!

Glad for the deer too...as long as it learned its lesson to look both ways first before crossing the road!! You know they say raccoons can't turn their heads to look left, which explains so why so many are DOA on the roads....just kidding.

Glad you're OK, dude!:2thumbs:

Glad to hear you are all right. Maybe the little bugger will look twice before it runs across the road next time. I hit a adult deer last year. You don't want to do that. I still feel it.

You got lucky! Speaking of lucky and deer. When I was living in Alaska, a dude (fellow Airmen) on a crotch rocket was doing about 75 mph in a 55. He saw a big brown object (Momma moose) move out into the road so he swerved. Ended up hitting a little brown object (baby moose). As he lay on the pavement, he realized he was for the most part un-injured. Then he heard a clip-it-ee...clop-it-ee sound as the Momma moose trotted over to him and began to stomp his ass. The first stomp hit him in the lower portion of the full-face helmet and the second one kinda grazed his neck. The the rider got his wits, jumped up, ran to the nearby barbed wire fence and dove over it. Lucky son-bitch escaped death twice in a matter of seconds. He only ended up with minor bumps and bruises. They pictured him in the base paper the next Friday, holding up his helmet with the lower portion of the full-face completely cracked in half from the stomp. How fuckin lucky is that?

Wow. Amazing incidents. I try to keep my eyes open for Bambi, or other furry critters, but you never know.
