Just bought a new K-9 and would like to have a higher handle bar (3-5" higher)
Anybody any experience what bar to use ? Maybe from another Big Dog Mod. ?
Or do I have a custom bar made ?

probably better off getting one made if you want to keep your hand controls - the BDM sizes are a bit unique.

I was in Tulsa Oklahoma for work and stop in at the Big Dog dealer. Started talking to K-9 owner that was having Ridgeback handle bars put on his bike. The owner of the store took me back to see the bike , it look real good. I'm thinking about pitting them on my bike. I do'nt know if that's what your looking for. Good luck

Thanks for your help.
I spoke to the factory and they told me to use a '06 Mastiff bar - 3" higher and not so much bend backwards. Ordered it and will mount hopefully next week. Working with Carl's Speed Shop in Ormond Beach.

Finally !

The factory finally sent me a '06 Mutt (not Mastiff for technical reasons) - with the cables already installed - handlebar for my K 9.
Fits perfect without changing clutch cable or brake line, 4 " higher and 2 " more forward - I absolutely like it. Now my arms are going up not down, as it should be in my opinion on a chopper. Thanks Big Dog and Carl's Speed Shop.

(I would post pictures if I just can figure out how to do it on my Mac).

Also had my seat and passenger pad done in blue suede with a Maltese Cross in the seat and baseball glove stitching around.
Installed also Tribal forward controls and Tribal pegs.

BDWB,

I ordered it with Carl's Speed Shop in Ormond Beach (Daytona) and they were new - factory recommended with the electric wiring installed by BD. I believe the handlebars were $ 450 including the wiring plus installation. Clutch cable is a little tight but ok, no new brake lines and no extensions for the Speedo.
BD recommended the '06 Mutt bars and I like it.:2thumbs:

That was what Carl's said - I don't care from what model they came, they fulfilled the purpose and I like the riding position. Originally we were going to use the handlebar from the '06 Mastiff, but there was an issue with the Speedo mounting, according to BGM, so they sent a different one.

I wish I had more money.
I saw a k9 or ridgeback the other day that had a spacer made up. Almost like one big riser that went from the trees up and the bars sat on top of them or it or whatever it ,they were. It didn't look to bad.

2004 Ridgeback. I just machined up 2 spacers out of 1 1/2" aluminum, 1 3/8" tall, polished them, and changed to longer bolts. Brought the handlebars up to a more comfortable position and didn't have to change any wires or cables. Just right for me. Very easy to do.
