Looks like I need a new bulb as I have the blue light on and no output out of the light. Can not toggle between high and low either. Any comments?

probably both beams out...

the ehc automatically will switch from one to the other if one of them is out.

So if the low is out, it will auto go to hi. And vise versa

Either that or your plug melted.

My K9 did that on a road trip to Utah----the ground wire broke in the headlight housing...

Possible EHC issue. Do you still have the ugly black block?
Steve's correct, this is very possible! :2thumbs:

GDOG_PITBULL,

But...do check the inside of your headlight bucket. The Headlamp Plug may have also melted down! It's a very common problem on the '04s through '06s! Service Bulletin SB-1077.

If it did, contact Steve, he has the "permanent" fix for that! :2thumbs:

Ok, pulled the bulb, the high beam indicator goes out. Checked bulb with voltage across both filaments or high and low and both burn bright. Battery ready 20 VDC across the posts..???? I may never understand this.
So, from the last ride 6 weeks ago till now the headlight no longer works and it has just been sitting in the garage on a tender. Whats next? VR, CB, EHC...?????

What's the headlight plug inside the bucket look like?

So the voltage is derived / circuit path is from the socket back to either the Hi/Lo switch or the CB, then VR???? Losing my cookies somewhere along the path. May need to sniff around under the tank???

Pathway is from the headlight plug back to the EHC then to the battery. No VR, or breaker involved, neither are the hand control switches. All power derived from the EHC then to the battery.

Do you have the schematic on the '04?

No I sure don't. Bike ran last week but that does not mean the EHC is not going south!

PM me your email and I'll send you the '04 schematic

I'm thinking something else is your issue. Like I said 200 VDC would blow up everything electrical on your bike. Plus there's no way a 12 volt battery can produce that much added voltage, no matter what went bad with it.

Well a problem that I encountered some time ago reappeared and caused my headlight / highbeam indicator problem.
The damn main EHC connector that I was sure I had checked was once again the culprit. With the key on I wiggled it a bit and all of a sudden I had lights, camera and action.
Now I just need to figure out what the deal with the starter spinning and not flipping the bendix in to engage is.
Thanks all!!!
