Here's a old dog learning new tricks

Well I got around to adding the pics of my Vintage Light tonight. They are in the gallery named bigdogrider99

It is a 99 model with an S&S 96 and a Super E that was rebuilt about 2 years ago by Pancake at Motorcycle Palace here in Augusta. I had the jugs bored 30 over and added the 561 S&S cam to bring up the attitude some. She is fun as hell to surprise the kids riding around on the 600 sport bikes. Light to Light she will run away from them in a hurry. The previous owner dropped it a couple of times and swapped out the bars before I got it and added new tins to the front end. I also axed the vinyl and had the seats and backrest covered in leather.

Last winter 2006 I got tired of looking at the purple ghost flames and hearing the damn purple dinosaur comments from the peanut galleries so I sanded it all down and fixed some rock dings, moved the rear turn signals off the Dresser like bar the factory used and mounted them straight to the fender. I went down and picked up a quart of black epoxy primer and now she has your basic black with red pinstriping added by a guy at the harley shop while I was at the Horse Smoke out last year in Salsbury NC. I also had the powder coating done on the derby, inspection, points covers and fender struts while she was down for paint.

This winter I finally got tired of replacing the exhaust mounting bolt on the tranny since long shots are so freaking heavy and kept breaking the grade 8's I used. I took the end of the pipes off and added turnouts and fabbed up a new rear mount. Now they are so solid I think I could lift the bike by the pipes. Sounds obnoxious as hell, so I love it, had to rejet but that was the easy part.
