sent a worker to R&B cycles today for the replacement start module pn:BD4120-1 and he came back with a BD4121-1S and was told that is what we needed, well can somebody explain how it's supposed to be hooked up ? the old one has red battery lead, black battery lead and a green lead to starter solenoid, there is a small gauge green wire that went to the EHC under the dash console with single spade connector, the new 4121 has an additional LED (yellow) an orange lead with bullet connector and 3 small gauge wires in a pigtail? WTF at $80 a pop don't want to fry it experimenting with hook up,so that's why I came here looking for HELP

The one on the right with the skinny green wire is the 02 start module that I had to ADD to my 03 in order to install compression releases.

I actually have both of those, the one on the left is the start module connected to the starter and I'm not technically sure what else.

and the other is like i stated above, and additional module I needed in order to cut the power to the h/light and powers the compression releases in accordance with the service bulleting attached below.

What year BD are you working on?

The BD is an '01 Boxer 107 ,fried batteries back to back and sat 4 awhile, seems as tho BD4120 shorted internal, causing connection to starter solenoid engaged starter, using 02 start module for compression release, that service bulletin nice, have a BD4121-1S schematic?, I didn't note the ehc connection with the 22AWG green wire

There is a yellow wire coming from the ehc marked comp reliefs. That one gets wired in accordance with the SB i attached. Let me grab my schematic but gotta warn you, I'm no Ohmster or Night Train and my bike is an 03 but I'll help however i can.

Let me get it straight, you wanted one with the skinny green wire and got the one with all the pigtails and thicker guage wiring right?

sorry for the lack of technical terms.:D

So you are planning on using the module with the 2 lights correct?

just so you know, i'm sort of looking at several different schematics because the 2 light module is for newer bikes and the wiring set up appears to be different but here goes.

My manual says red to battery +
Black to battery -
Green 12AWG wire to starter solenoid
Large orange wire goes to the EHC providing power.

the 3 wire lead with the JST connector at the end plugs the module into the main harness connecting the module to the ignition switch and the the starter button in the handlebars.

I'm reading this right off my manual, again, for an 03. It appears that if you removed the other type module, the wiring is more simplified. By this, I mean, there is no guarantee that it will work when you are done???

Hope this helps.

agreed

between myself, R&B and MDC we all agree i need a BDM-170-00176
(pn# BD-4120-1) the older style with a single LED and a single 22AWG green signal wire, let's hope the replenish part is correct when it shows up:confused:

wrong part

well the re-order for the number BDM said would be right was not,the newer 4121 showed up,so another indefinite down time,if it wasn't raining everyday it would be alot worse,it's time to get the dog running, not waiting trying to get the "RIGHT" part:bang:
