Help primary leaking oil

Hello I got a 2003 mastiff and it started to leak oil where the primary goes to the Transmission and gets on the belt. would it be from the Transmission or the primary. the belt is on the left side same as primary. oil is more on the primary side so i would thank it would be from the primary. and how hard is it to take primary off to see.

I haven't had any experience with the 03's, but I think it would be a fairly simple task of pulling the primary cover, removing chains and sprockets, pulling the inner primary cover and replacing the seal on the transmission and don't know if your primary has an o-ring or a gasket but should be easy to do. Just be sure to stack the clutch plates out exactly as they come out so you can re-install them in their original place. Hey you may want to go ahead and replace the clutch friction plates and spacers while you have them out. Hopefully some of the 03 owners here will have done this and provide some insite.

Thanks rrruff. Is there any special tools i will need to do this job. and I live in Ohio so where is the best online store to get parts at.

Does sound like the Trans shaft seal. I haven't done one on a big dog, but have on a Harley. You may want to bolt the clutch discs together to keep them in order. If the belt got oily, make sure you check the clutch plates
