Help me understand the electrical system, PLEASE!

Now we're cooking! My question is mostly over the ignition/timing and charging system. The Thunderheart module you carry works with our crank position sensor type ignitions by itself, or only with the Wire-Plus module? And I may have to investigate the charging system since a direct wire setup could pull more amps than the EHC (or even your Wire-Plus) setup?

If you keep your BDM controls I have an 05 Chopper bar I can give you. I put Ridgeback bars on mine!!!

You can also have a set of custom handlebars made that have 1-3/16 ends then you can use all your stock controls, just lengthen the wires and change your cables. This is one place that will make any bars you want.

Jake - what about the unit I got (WP-182 I think from memory)? I no longer have the BDM switches but do still use everything else. Also, if you want to change your hand controls with the module I have you should be able to just cut the bars and weld an insert to take "normal" sized hand controls. The tech who wired up my bike with this unit said it is most definitely not BDM specific but I am still using the BDM speedo etc although we did have to change the hand control switches.

Correct, The WP-182 is for a HD based bike. Standard controls and all new wiring included. The stock ignition, speedo and tach will still work. You do still need to change all the controls though.

yep on the controls but I think he wants to do that anyway - maybe this is the way to go for him...
