Helmet Cam becomes Shotgun Cam!

So, I took the Tachyon XC helmet camera and using one of the mounts that came with it, strapped it onto my shotgun. Here is a quick video of the in field results. Myself and and two buddies went out to North Dakota for our annual duck and goose hunt the first week of November. While the weather and birds did not cooperate, it was still a good time.

The weather was bright, sunny and still each day. Warm temps stayed for the whole week and this kept all the birds up north. There were some great sunrises but the sunsets over the calm waters were incredible. Even without mother nature cooperating we still got some shooting in.

Using one of the helmet mounts that came with the camera, I simply ran a velcro strap through the mount and around the barrel. The camera was definitely put to the test since I was using a 12 ga. with 3" shells.

The video camera is purported to be shock proof and waterproof. I can report that it is both, as I dropped the shotgun hard once, and on more that one occasion that shotgun and camera got wet or muddy. So, here is the quick vid or the North Dakota duck hunt.

Nice. Looks like you snuck a pheasant in there too.
I was thinking the same thing. Just pull the tail feathers and you have a wood duck on steroids.:roll:

I leave Sunday for the panhandle of OK to hunt pheasant. Can't hardly wait! :whoop::whoop:

Very nice, and the sunset pics were beautiful. That really was a shock test for the cam considering the recoil. I wonder if it would stand up to that repeatedly?

That was cool. I'm an O/U fan. What model you shooting?

The shotgun is a 12 gauge Khan (a browning knock-off). Though low price (under $300) it has a nice fit and finish, came with several interchangeable chokes and shoots very well. Balanced nicely and takes down the birds (when you are on target of course).

I put all sorts of rounds through the gun with the camera on there and it never faltered. I must say it definitely will take some abuse. Hmmmmm, muzzleloader season starts Friday....
