to anyone out there who has put heat wrap on their pipes? Did you have to rejet your carb as a result?

I put some black heat wrap on a set of joker pipes that I had on my custom bobber. No re-jet was required. I will tell you when I removed the wrap, the chrome under it was ruined:angry:. There is a high temp sealer spray to go over the wrap incase any fluid drips or leaks onto the pipes to prevent this but I don't know if it really works or not.

I've rapped several sets of pipes and never had to re-jet. The sealant spray Mario mentioned is a must!! Keeps the wrap in good shape!!

Why would you put heat wrap, is it because those pipes don't come with shields??? or do it for performance, looks, function.....

Everything above. I did not have shields for my pipes, wanted to keep the heat from soaking into the engine (bar hopper in the city) while adding a old school look.

Bulldog - the performance part comes from the heat staying inside the pipe resulting in the gases getting out faster - this can increase scavenging more air in faster - whether you will notice the difference I don't know

I kinda dig the heat rap myself. Think I could easily become a pipe whore.
I got a stock set of super trap pipes I could be enticed to chop and wrap... see what happens.... could pass them around the michigan boys for fun.

First off, Mario that's an awesome bike, and you did an excellent job of wrapping those pipes.

I had the wrap put on my bike because it got to the point where the blueing wouldn't come off, and when I could get it off, I had to do it every time. I am not a big fan of wrap, and it had to grow on me, but bottom line is, it looks better than blueing.
