Headlight Reflector Loose

Energy One

My headlight has a reflector (at least that's what I think it is) sticking out from under the bulb that holds a star like piece out in front of the bulb. I assume to increase the intensity of the light and spread it properly. I didn't really notice any issue with it because I haven't ridden at night in a while but last night I noticed the light was jumping around a lot. I stopped and pulled the choke up a little to get the RPM's up and sure enough the reflector was bouncing around. Its in place just shaking around. The light beam seems to have the right pattern on the road and is plenty bright but you can see the shaking in the light pattern. When I am idling the thing looks solid and doesn't move and when I tap on the light or shake the front it doesn't move. Once the engine revs up a little the damn thing shakes around like crazy. Should I be worried? Is there any way to tighten it?

Aside from buying a new one, I would pull your headlight out of the housing, remove the bulb and you should be able to reach your finger into the lens and feel where the arm mounts to the housing itself. Mix up some two part epoxy (some good two part stuff) and put some on your finger and reach down in and put it on the base of the arm where it mounts. Let it dry for 4-6 hours and check the tightness of it.

That should fix it for a good long time and save a few bucks until it completely fails.:2thumbs:

I will see if that'll work. Thanks for the idea.

There is probably a pop rivet in that aftermarket lens that has vibrated loose and is letting the deflector pivot and move around.

A little epoxy will fix it up!

I probably should've said that to start with. No, I replaced it but its basically the same but the lens is clear and the reflector gives it a star appearance to the lens.
I didn't think so. Is it an adjure? I would try to contact the aftermarket company.
