should be straight forward, unless the frame has a proprietary bolt pattern for the tranny.

yea like riding Green !
I'd like to go with the S&S /Baker. But my wallet says NO Way !
I can get a new Evo motor and tranny for much less than just the S&S motor.
The last Evo I had I put over 30,000 miles on it with absolutely no problems what so ever.

the frame looks like the motor and tranny will bolt right up.My problem is going to be the offset. Do I need to get a offset inner primary?I'd like to go with the enclosed primary.
I really don't know what to do.
I call BDM dealrs and if your not buying anything they really don't want to give you the time of day.
wife is getting tired of seeing frame in living room already !

Do whatever floats your boat, enjoy it, and ride the hell out of it, but just keep in mind, if the horsepower bug ever bites you, it will cost you $4,000-$5,000 just to get that motor up even with our stock motors.

Thanks but if I ever get the Horsepower bug it definately wouldn't be in a chopper frame. Cornering means everything when taking turns at over 100 MPH.

got the same exact bike as yours, just bought it with less than 4000 miles on it. Within a month the baker transmission had a main bearing go out in it and shredded the whole thing. Refused to give Baker anymore money so I put in the Ultima transmission for a third of the cost. If you call the main Big Dog dealer in Wichita Kansas, get the service department and ask for Will. He was the one who worked on mine, really knew what he was talking about and was real honest about my options, even if it was not a Baker product. He would shoot you a straight answer on how your set up would work.

offset yes, how much I dont know. and, yes if you want the power of a stock 107" or 117" it would take big money to get there from an 80". either spend it now and have room to grow or spend it later and match our stock. by the way S&S motors are just as reliable as harleys. just ask Ray, he put 60k on his be he did a top end rebuild but thats a whole other story.

Offset on the trany is if I remember 1.5 inches and all stock Harley stuff easy to figure bolt you motor and trany down and just measure the offset all stuff will fit from a softail watch ebay there are always off set spacers and mainshaft spacers

It will bolt up no problem. You just need the proper offset for your frame. Daytec needs the 1-7/16 offset and the rolling thunder frame will need the 1-1/2 offset. You can find either inner primary on ebay

Times are tough and horsepower's expensive (not to mention the price of a brand new Dog). So I can defintely relate to what this guy's trying to do. He just wants to ride on a nice looking bike. Went thru the same thing myself when I was a kid and built my first chopper. (Had to opt for an old Triumph powerplant instead of a new Hog because I couldn't afford what Harley wanted for a new shovel.) By the same token, however, I will say this...I've had countess Harley motors and several S&S, and my experience has been that the S&S motors, although sometimes a bit more fickle than Harleys, they are much more reliable.

Good luck, bro! Get your offset figured out, and you should be fine. Enjoy the summer!!!
