hard plastic bushings

got a 07 k9 with the hard as hell bushings for the handle bars,
had soft rubber ones in my 04 chopper,
on this one at 3000 rpm & above the tach sections jump around in side the speedo head & leavers for brake & clutch vib. also feel it in the grips.
tryed to get old type & the dealer looks at me like im from a differant
planet, for a $30.000 bike i shure feel like i am getting the fucking run-around!!:angry:

I replaced the rubber ones on my scoot with the hard polyurethane's ones.

I read on here somewhere, where one of the guys replaced his with the polyurethane ones, and it gave him a bit more rise. Any idea which ones? And maybe a part no.?

I took my pup in for the 2500 mile checkup and Thomas, our Tech, found bad bushings in the handlebars and replaced them before I remembered to mention the shaking in the bars. Thomas found a couple other minor issues and just took care of em. He said there was a run of bad bushings and he was on the look out for em. I have not seen a recall on these. I will look for my reciept and see what it says.

You know if they are bad by when you push your bike around your bars move a lot? If you replace them with the polyurethane ones then they will be stiffer and not move as much. The part numbers for the Chubby's are listed on the page I linked above. They are generic so you won't order the wrong ones. Some people like them and some not.
The rubber ones probably reduce vibration more but you do get the movement out of them.

did you find it shakes the bars more with the hard ones????
also heard bd changed to the hard ones because mastives handle bars would hit the tank after two years of use!

I have a new set of handlebar bushing in the garage... but guess what... they are rubber again.

I would rather replace the $10 rubber bushing every year or 2 then to have the added vibes from the hard polly ones.

I'll keep the rubber bushings also. There is a SB out to change them to the poly bushings if the bars display too much movement.

Had the handle bar bushing replaced today with BDM's urethane one-I love them-they raised my bars higher from the gas cap by at least 1/2"----and the dealer (Iron Lightning-Tulsa, Ok) did it all "under warranty".:flag:

Well, I'm back after the 3100 mile trip. About the bushings, what can I say----I LOVE THEM. Not one complaint.


As a footnote-while in So. Cal., I got the honor to have Sheldon (Mr. Big Dog) sign a photo of my K9. I also got to tour the new home that we're building for him. THAT DAMN THING IS HUGE.
